Q: What does the sport button do on a 1990 honda accord lx?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX automatic transmission and it has a button that says sport. What does that button do
A: It will change shift points. When turned on it will bump up the shift range to allow a higher rpm between shifts. This is why its called "sports" be cause it makes your car go really fast--NOT! In other words its kinda like pressing the gas pedal and how it affects the shift range with the detent cable(or pressure valve cable). The harder you press the gas the higher the shift point.
Q: 1990 Honda Accord Heater has a mind of it's own! Where should I start troubleshooting?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX 6cyl Automatic...used to have AC, but hasn't worked since I owned the car (bought at auction for a great deal 2 years ago.) The heater seems to be developing a mind of it's own...sometimes it works, sometimes not! One day I'll start it and it's blowing hot air, etc...next day...the fan won't engage to blow anything! It might decide to start up while I'm en route to a destination, but...who knows? When it DOES decide to blow, the toaster seems to be working just great...the switch selector will dial high or low, etc, and all of the buttons designating defrost or whatever work fine. Rear def in the glass still works as fast as ever. It doesn't seem to be the core, but a fan-related malfunction...wiring, or a resistor? Can anyone suggest where I should begin to resolve this problem? I can't afford to pay a shop to 'track' and replace parts with guesswork, so an educated theory might help!
Thanks for any assistance!
It would only happen in winter, eh? Char
A: The trouble is intermittent so, the first thing to check is the wire connectors at the fan. Make sure the connection is clean and solid. If this don't do it the next thing is to check the connection at the fan speed switch. Same thing, make sure it's a clean and solid connection. If that don't do it, then replace the speed control switch. That's the end of the cheap and easy stuff. Next and last effort would be replacing the blower motor.
Q: Where are the circuit breakers on a 1990 Honda Accord?
My aged Honda is starting to suffer from failing circuits. The radio antenna refuses to go down, the dome light won't come on, and the lowest setting on the windshield wipers are not working. I'm told by a reliable source that these are on circuits that are handled by circuit breakers, not fuses. But, I cannot find these circuit breakers. There is a very small fuse box at the feet of the driver's seat, though.
A: The fuses are down by the drivers side left foot panel. The inside cover of the fuse panel cover has a diagram showing the fuse amperage rating and its function. There is another balck plastic box under the hood with fuses as well.
Q: Is "almost" 300,000 Miles on a 1990 Honda Accord acceptable if you plan on using it for 6 months?
I'm a high school senior who just moved from my parents home. I have $1000 for a car on craigslist and physically it's beautiful. The guy says he's done a lot of "preventive work" with the motor. I need it until graduation and really cant afford to buy something that will waste in about a month. Are Honda's with high miles dependable?
A: hondas are usually reliable.
id say that if you are FOR SURE planning on getting a new car around graduation time, then go for it.
obviously, the car has worked for its previous owner for 300,000 miles, so why shouldnt it work for a few more miles for you?? the owner, is probably just buying a new car himself.
you should talk to him a little bit about it too.
as long as your not planning any cross-country road trips, and you take EXCELLENT care of it, you should be ok.
best of luck!!
Q: i have a 1990 honda accord started to hesitate while i was driving and losing power now it wont start?
when i hit the break and the gas as i drove, the lights would dim, my speedometer would bounce around. when i finally parked it and shut it of, i tried to restart it and it did not do anything, not even attempt to start. What could be the problem?
A: It sounds like your alternator went, so your battery wasn't recharging. You were running off battery power alone until you shut it off. Then the battery didn't have enough power to restart the car. Try charging the battery, then start the car, or jump start the car. Check battery voltage across the terminals, should be 12-13VDC. Then have someone turn the lights on while you watch the meter. The voltage should increase to around 14VDC if the alternator is working
Q: My 1990 Honda Accord's engine light turned on. Do I need to plug it in to an OBD1 Can I use pulse light code?
I don't have an obd1 device. I would like to know if The 90 accord uses obd0 style flashing light codes. If it does where can I go to find out what the codes mean and what to do to start the flashing sequence?
Thanks
A: Since I do not have the ability to post a picture or even to paint a good picture I will just hand off a link.
All you will need is a paper clip

Q: 1990 Honda accord distributor problem?
I was told my honda accord is stalling out because the distributor gasket is leaking oil onto the points and not allowing a good connection. It will start and run for a while, but then stalls out. Can I replace the gasket only on a distributor, or do I need to replace the whole distributor?
Thanks!
A: If you see a rust colored powder between the distributor and the cylinder head, it is too late to replace only the seal. That would mean the bearing is toast. Honda had a TSB on these in the mid-90's. It was much more cost effective to replace the distrbutor with a reman unit, but that wasn't available when the TSB came out. The only place you could get the distributor from back then was Honda and they were $556.85. You might find one at a junkyard, but make sure it is the same as the one you have. They all look alike, but have their differences. I am sure a reman unit is also available for these by now.
Q: My 1990 Honda Accord makes a pronounced Humming and shaking when stopped in gear. Whats wrong?
it runs fine otherwise but when in gear and stopped with my foot on the brake it hums loudly and vibrates/shakes. it does not do this is neutral or park though... any ideas? wats going on?
A: Obviously its terrified because it doesn't know the words.
Seriously, when's the last time you had a look at the transmission fluid level? Or ever had it serviced?
Check into the possibility you've neglected its maintainence schedule alot.
Humming is often hydraulic fluids under pressure, ie. your power steering pump whines when it's low on juice. Your transaxle relies on hydraulics, too, and requires adequate fluid and certain minimal maintainence to keep it running right..
Q: How do I remove the Fuel Pump relay for a 1990 honda accord?
I have located it but can't seem to find a way to take it out. I was wondering if it just slides out or are there some screws/bolts I need to loosen?
A: you should probably ask this type of question on a honda forum. Below is the link to a honda tech forum...
Q: How many miles can I expect to get out of 1990 honda accord if it has been well maintained?
I'm looking at one that has 210,000 miles , one owner, with maintinance records....It seems to run fine but can I expect it to last long with so many miles?
A: I have a buddy that got 300,000 and sold it. not sure how many miles it has now but i still see that car
Q: How do i begin to make my automatic 1990 Honda Accord a manual?
I have been wanting to do this for a while and just need to know all the things i have to have and or do to make this happen.
A: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ first lots of money new transmission, axles, clutch pedal and piviot bracket, cable & slave cyl, clutch master cyl, shifter and connecting cable, something to cut a big hole in the floor...
If you are serious get a doner car that has been wrecked or blown the motor and use all the parts from it
Q: 1990 Honda accord is difficult to start?
Hello everyone!
I just bought a 1990 Honda Accord LX few days ago. This car runs great but has a issue to me. It is difficult to start! After I insert my key into the igniter, I need to turn the key very hard to start the car. It seems like I need to reach a right point to ignite the engine. If I fail to reach the point, my car just make "ca ca ca" sound.
A: You probably need a new ignition switch and soon or it will get harder and harder to start until it won't. Its the part that you put your key into in the dashboard/steering column (wherever it is).
get someone that knows what they are doing or you could end up replacing the whole steering column.
