Q: What would cause the battery 100 amp fuse to blow in a 97 Honda CRV after the head lamps were left on?
I have never seen the battery fuse blow on my 97 Honda CRV when I left the head lamps on in the past. Why would the fuse blow this time?
The dealer didn't have the 100 amp fuse, I had to order it in. Can you buy this from other auto supply stores?
A: the only way to possible blow that fuse is if somone hooked up jumper cables or a jump box backwards causing a major short!
Q: 1999 honda CRV mechanical questions?
HI I have a Honda (99) CRV, I have two problems, one of which nobody can figure out and the other maybe you guys can help me..
1) I have an awful squealing sound when I am turning sharp corners, but not all the time, Its not the power steering fluid as the mechanic said thats not it. When I bring it to get looked at it doesnt make the sound (of course). One mechanic said "something" needed to be greased but wasnt sure what.
Anyone else have any problems like this.
2) I have one rear stabalizer link broken, What are stabalizer links and what do they do? What happens if I dont fix this right away? And...Do I need to repair both of them through a mechanic or is this something hubby could do.
Any imput would be great!

My husband sais its not the steering belt, and another thing to mention is the "squealing sound" doesnt sound like metal on metal....Its a really hard to describe, is there anywhere that maybe we should try and grease under the car that would maybe help? A: 1) sounds like your cv joint or cv axle. it is the same thing but different people call it different things. your hubby can fix it but it is a PAIN IN THE @$$. i would not suggest it.
2)stabilizer BAR is a bar that connect one side of the car to the other side of the car right above the tires. what is does is when you are turning a corner, it will prevent your car from flexing from the gravitational force and centrifical force. basically it keeps your car square during corners.
also, i would fix #2 first and get hubby to do it. it is real easy. then fix #1 with a trusted mechanic cause you can get price gouged at some places for it.
Q: What do you think of owning a Honda CRV?
We heard it gets decent gas mileage for an SUV. It seems like a decent car & it's a Honda which has a good reputation. Just thinking about pro's & con's if it might be a car worth looking into purchasing. Thanks!
A: I WORK FOR HONDA AND MY MOM HAS HAD A 1997 AND A 2002 CRV. BOTH ARE GREAT. THEY DON'T SUCK ALOT OF GAS, THEY HAVE MORE ROOM INSIDE THAN YOU'D THINK, THEY DRIVE LIKE A TALL CAR, ARE ONE OF HONDA'S MOST RELIABLE MODELS (I KNOW. I SELL PARTS!), AND HAVE AWD FOR SNOW AND SUCH.
Q: How do you change the oil and filter on 2 litre Honda CRV (X Reg) and what is the best oil?
I have just bought an X Reg (2000) 2 litre CRV and need to change the oil and filter and have no idea how to do this. Does the drain plug need any special tools?
A: It isn't worth it to change your own oil and filter anymore, bring it to any/most car service places and they will do it for something like 20 bucks. That is almost how much the oil and filters cost themselves, they also usually do a free checkup on your fluids, tires, and brakes.
If you have to do it on your own, you have to drain the oil from the plug in the oil pan, a flat rectangular piece on the bottom of your engine, filters generally screw on and off, just look for the piece that looks like the one you bought, it is a round cylinder, usually white or orange.

A: You use to be able to buy a universal add on kit.But I haven't seen any like that in the last 20 years. Most cars now days come already equipped. Check in J.C.Whitney catalog or on line. If you can't find one at the local parts houses like Nampa. I to have been interested in a CRV

A: Its not. Its rather unattractive in regards to styling for starters. There are other vehicles in its catagory that are just as good.

A: If the navigation system came with the car (i.e. installed in the dash), then you have no choice but to goto the dealer and they do the installation and charge you accordingly.
I don't know how much it is, but a friend has an '04 sienna van and she received 1 free upgrade from toyota, the 2nd time she wanted to upgrade they handed her a bill for $417. That's labor, and the software, and she didn't get to keep the software on disc.

I purchased the vehicle brand new in May of 2007 from an authorized Honda dealership (Nalley Honda). My back, driver-side tire has a hole in it and I need to get it replaced. A: nope tires are not incuded. I f i was you i would go to a tire place and get the same tire put on. Honda will charge you blue book hours for labor prob. aroud 22 dollars plus the tire which is really marked up prob. about 140. go to a tire place~
Q: Why can a Honda CRV tow more weight in the UK than in the US?
We want to pull a pop up camper behind our CRV. We looked on both websites and the US engine is actually larger but it says it can only tow 1500 lbs while the UK model can tow more than 2000 lbs.
A: The problem is not with how much the CRV can pull but in stopping the vehicle. The difference in the specs on the 'recommended' towing capacity is the distributor's comfort level with regard to product liability. American Honda, the US distributor is a very conservative company and they usually understate their 'real' towing capacities. Honda UK may have different competitors or their competitors may have higher towing capacities that cause the UK distributor to be less conservative in their published capacity. Both vehicles use the same braking systems.

you are wrong sir, you can fit a crv spedometer in a 97 civic, it will fit, and plug up the same. lots of people do it cause they like the amber light it emits.

Q: Honda CRV Radio was resset, i HAVE the code but my previous work has it stuck saying ERROR.?
I had to replace my battery in my HONDA CRV, and my radio wasn't working just saying CODE. I was mucking around with it and got stuck with an error message. I now know what to do, but I can't enter the right code now since it just says ERROR. HOw do i reset it again so i CAN enter my code?
A: you have three chances to enter the code properly and if you don't do it in three tries it figures your trying to do something you shouldn't be doing and it locks you out for 24 hours or so.
the easyest way to reset the radio so that you get the code message again is to disconnect the battery negative cable and leave the negative cable off for about 5 minutes. that will clear the memory in the audio unit so that when you reconnect the battery your radio will say "CODE" and you can start again.
if you don't want to disconnect the battery, look in the underhood fuse and relay box on the passenger side rear of the engine compartment. In that fuse box you'll find a fuse labeled back-up. its usually a 7.5 amp fuse and it may be labeled "b/up". removing that fuse and leaving it out for 5 minutes will do the same as disconnecting the battery.
