Q: I have a 2001 honda crv lx 2wd maintennce required light went on what does this mean just bought no manual?
A: you need to get the oil change done and regular service performed.... if you just did your oil change they probably forgot to reset it just have them reset it for you. it has to be no charge
Q: 2001 Honda CRV AWD?
My 2001 Honda CRV LX AWD has rear differential problems. It squeeks and makes the whole car vibrate when taking sharp turns and u-turns. The allignment if fine and got the differential fluid drained and refilled 3 times in the same day and now works fine. Do you think the problem will come back again and what do you think the problem was?
A: Make sure one uses specified differential fluid and replace the fluid at the manufacturer's interval.
Q: how much to replace a wheel bearing, 2001 honda crv?
A: Parts plus labour..Phone the garage and ask...probably a fixed charge.
Q: 2001 Honda CRV intermittent dome light flash?
So I've had this 2001 CRV for about 2 years. Sometimes (and only when it wants to, but it seems like it's worse when it rains), it will continuously flash the dome light after I set the alarm (well, lock the doors anyway). It was recently that I noticed that it also is tied into the Door locking mechanism. Just repeatedly locks over and over with corresponding dome light flashing. I don't want to hear the dealer tell me $800.00 or more either. Like I said, it's not all the time, maybe acts up once a month (possibly more as in the daytime I don't see the light flash and don't remember to pause and listen for door locks). At least it is locking and not unlocking, but I'm afraid i t will eventually harm the battery/electrical or worse, burn out a door lock actuator/servo or something. If you have any insight on this, I'd appreciate it (the car also has a mysterious "thud" sometimes from the back even if the car is turned off, but I'll save that explanation for another question)
THANKS!
A: Sounds like a bad relay. There should be a relay that controls your locks this should also be your dome light problem. The relay closes and locks the door. But it sounds like the relay is either bad or has a bad ground. The relay cycles several time that's why your dome light flashes and your locks keep trying to lock. Your car should have a book or a location that shows what your different relays are for. Replace the one for your power locks and should solve your problem. If not then I am lost

Q: My car (Honda CRV 2001) won't go above 20 miles an hr, even though I acclerate the engines just runs..?
My car (Honda CRV 2001) won't go above 20 miles an hr, even though I acclerate the engines just runs and the check engine light came on. I went to a mechanic and he figured it would be the transmission problem.
I then went to a transmission shop and they asked me to leave the car for check-up and said the estimate can be around $3500-4500.... Can anyone advice ?
A: YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.
TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.
Q: what would be the recommended (performance wise) tire pressure for standard tires on a 2001- honda CRV? -thanx
A: Check the sticker inside the door. It is probably about 28 psi, but you can safely carry 30.
Q: what should i get done on my 2001 honda crv 60k mile major tune-up?
A: Usually what is recomended is a transmission flush, coolant flush, power stereing flush, fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter. All of that may not be necessary, but I would definately get a transmission flush. Hondas will definately run forever, but like most well built cars the automatic tansmission is the weak point. For a couple hundred bucks every few years on the flush you can save yourself a few thousand on a new trans if you plan on keeping it for a long time.
Q: a good website for 2001 Honda crv performance parts?
A: I can't direct you to any particular websites but I used to own a 2000 CR-V. Great vehicles. There's not much out there that is CR-V specific in the States. There are people who have done the VTEC head swap and added turbos and superchargers to theirs. I also remember Jackson racing making a supercharger for the 1997-98 CR-Vs.
In case you don't know, the 1997-2001 honda CR-V came with a B20B ('97-'98) or B20Z enignes('99-'01). The B20B had 126 hp, while the B20Z had 146hp. Basically, the B20 is an Acura Integra B18 engine with larger pistons. While the B20 wasn' t going to win any awards in hp ratings, it had an impressive amount of torque.
The B20 is a dog in a CR-V, yet this engine in the lighter Civic is an amazing experience. The Civic really flies with a B20. For this reason, a B20 has been avery popular for swapping into Civics and Integras. Being a B-Series engine, it is easy to do and you can extract big power from it when done correctly.
The reason I mentioned this is because there aren't very many CR-Vs out there that have been tinkered with. If you decide to add some power to your engine, you need to do a search on B20 Civics or B20 Integras. Better yet visit forums dedicated to Civics and Integras and look for owners who have done the swap. You'll get to know what you can and can't do to get the most out of your engine reliably. If you have two-wheel drive, you can do engine swaps; 4 wheel drive, you'll have to do mods to your engine.
If handling is what you're looking for, there are lots of shops that have or can order the parts for you. In fact, they can even give you advice on what you need to buy to enhance your handling. I hope this helps.
Q: 2001 Honda crv gas, regular unleaded?

p/n 39101-59A-A110-M1

A: You have all the info you need to call your local dealer and get your code.
They will ask for the serial number from the radio and possibly the VIN from the CR-V.
Q: 2001 Honda CRV Shakes when turning?
i am the only owner of my car. its has about 103,000 miles on it and its shakes when it turns in both drive and reverse. its not like a horrible shake but it is recognizable. now its been doing this for a while and nothing seems to be bothering it. midas says its normal for cars with AWD of front wheel drive i cant remember which one mine is. but honda dealership says its not and cost about 200 to fix. now idk who to believe cause i remember hearing dealerships try to pinch every little dime out of your wallet. i just had my window fixed there for 400. so any opinions? my dad said he was gonna look at it when i get home but key point to that is i have to drive home (7 hour drive) and i dont want to blow up on the way :o) any help/opinions/suggestions would be amazing
A: the answer is simple and inexpensive. Are you ready to be surprized?
The condition is caused by old rear differential fluid. Quite simply the additives in the lubricants that keep the rear differential spinning freely have been exhausted causing the differential to partially lock on turns. Its a very common issue on higher mileage CR-V vehicles and one that a lot of people spend a lot of money trying to fix.
just get someone to change the rear differential oil for you. be sure to use the honda recommended fluid for the change. it may take a turn or two for the new fluid to work into the fdiff but after a drive or two around the block you'll find that it no longer shutters on turns.
expect it to cost between $50-$75 to fix you problem. I would be the one who is surprized if it doesn't work!
hope that helps
ps: don't worry about anything 'blowing up' on the way home. it won't. if you are wary of the dealership pricing then go into the dealership and buy the fluid then take the CRV somewhere else to have the fluid changed. Nobody likes to do the fluid change because the differential oil stinks and its a messy job but hey, that's why you pay them to do it.
