Q: 2002 Honda CRV?
My 2002 CRV (78K) - break & ABS light flash occasionally & the airbag light has stayed on continually for 2 weeks. Dealership tested it & said alternator ($600) CR-V has had no problem starting up. Friend thinks it's battery or newly replaced serpentine belt slipped, but not alternator at only 78K. Found new manufacturer parts for $250 -- is it that hard to get the alternator out that they would charge an add’l $300 (3 hours of labor?) help!
A: The serpentine belt can not slip - it has an automatic tensioner.
If the battery had failed that would have showed up in the test of the alternator, but since the battery's main job is only to start the car (not run it once it is started) this is rather unlikely anyway.
An alternator problem could certainly cause the symptoms indicated. If you doubt the dealer take the car to another shop for a second opinion.
Q: Need to install Cold Air intake and exhaust on my 2002 Honda CRV? Any ideas.?
I have a 2002 honda crv with nighthawk black and i'm doing a lot of modificion to it and i need to install a best Cold Air Intake for more power and also exhaust too. so if you have any good ideas please feel free to answer this question and please be serious. i've already bought the exhaust from ebay for about $80 but its about 4" round and 14" long but i'm also think of buying 02 HONDA CRV TANABE EXHAUST SYSTEM from ebay.com and i'm also thinking of adding a Honda CRV Secret Weapon COLD AIR Intake that i found on ebay. so please let me know what you think and if you have a better idea. please let me know. i just need to add more horsepower and add a quick sound to the muffler. i don't want exhaust to sound loud or low. i want it to sound like the one on porsche conyon or the Infiniti FX35 or the Subrue Impress or the WRX. thank you for all your help.

A: these are good add ons but therse never anything like seeing it in person. i perfer aem for intakes and tanabe is a good exhaust but see if there are others out there as well because tanabe is pretty loud. overall these are good parts you chose just shop around for better prices or if any racing stores in your area can get this because e bay sometimes ships wrong parts or ones not made for the car and its a pain to send it back and explain what happened or why it didn't fit.

A: These are elctronically controlled and will need a scan or code retreival to tell what is wrong. Beside checking fluid level there is very little for an owner to do.Honda also uses a special ATF so if you need to add be sure you get the right fluid. At this point - someone knowledgable in auto repair is well worth the money as he / she should be able to tell you which area to look

A: Whao ! I work for a dealer, and never heard such a thing; however, there's more to it I'm sure. To replace a gas cap is usually related to a "check engine" light concern, usually triggered by a leak of fuel vapor in the system somewhere. Normal corporate is the gas cap, because most people when putting gas in their vehicles "rest" the gas nozzle on the gas intake of the car and even sometimes leaning on it, putting even more pressure on the neck; hence , damaging the seal. To rest the "light" is no big deal either.
But I would never, ever, EVER, charge such a horrible amount to anybody. Ask them if it couldn't be covered under their Honda "Emissions" warranty? Talked to their customer serv. rep. at Honda Motors Co. (it's an 800 number), or talk to the service manager. Tell them you're (or it's your daughter's) a college student and need the money or something like that.
I wouldn't charge you and I workd for a high end European brand, it's ridiculous. I HATE when dealers do that to people, give all the test of us bad reps.

Q: removed all 5 lug nuts from the front left tire of 2002 Honda CRV, but it still does not come off. What next?r?
A: Put all the lug nuts back on, just turned in a couple of threads, lower car so most of the weight is on the tire, lean against the fender and give the car a couple of shoves side to side, the wheel should pop loose, it works on my 03 Accord, besides I hate to smack the rim or tire.

A: does the fan motor that blows the air through the ducts work? In many cases when the fan doesn't work then the air conditioning control panel doesn't work. If that's the case then the problem is usually the blower motor resistor on the case under the front right (passenger) side of the dash board.

Q: 2002 honda crv fuel door won't open is there another way to open.?
A: the chances are that the tang that holds the door stuck is bent. You can open it without damaging it if you have someone inside the vehicle to hold the lever to open the fuel door in the 'open' position while you insert a credit card between the rear of the door and the body of the car. gently pry the door open with the credit card and it should release.
there isn't an in-vehicle emergency release for that fuel door.
once the door is open you can bend the tang on the door forward to reposition it so that the door will open with the cable. before doing so, be sure your buddy inside the car works the lever so that you can confirm that the cable is working properly (going in and out). you may have to play with the tang moving it forward and backward until the door opens by the lever control again.

A: It means there is a problem with the airbags and there is the chance that they might not deploy if you get hit. I would recommend going to your nearest Honda dealership to get it checked out. Sometimes the system just faults and there is no problem...in that case the fine people at Honda will reset your system for you and send you on your way.
Q: i need the default radio code of 2002 honda crv?
A: There is no default code, try the following.
1. Look in glove box for small sticker with numbers, should be 5 digits with numbers no greater then 6.
2. Pull out the ashtray and see if the sticker is on the back of there.(older models that have them)
3. Pull radio from dash and write down radio serial number and call local dealer with that number and they will be able to get the code for you.
4. If you happen to have all the books from the dealer look in the 'HONDA SERVICE HISTORY' book, not the owners manual. It should be on the first page in the AUDIO CODE box.
The dealer can not give you the code for the radio with your VIN unless you purchased the car from the dealer and they still have your info on file. If they charge you it's because they will do step three above.
Some say if you turn off radio and hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons then turn radio on it will give you the serial number. I tried on my 2007 Element and it didn't work.
