Q: how often do you change your timing belt on a honda crv 2004?
is there any spark plug on a honda crv 2004 model?
A: my answer is every 90 miles
Q: Oxygen sensor in 2004 Honda CRV?
How do you tell if it's bad? Can it be tested?
Honda guy, the check engine light was on/went off the day before the 60K checkup. I mentioned this to the dealor and was later told it needed replacing (it cost a fortune, by the way) and I'm not sure if it really needed to be replaced or if it was replaced for pure profit motivation.
Zephyr, I agree with you. I feel like I made a boat payment for someone. I bought the Honda because I had a '91 Integra that I sold with 312,000 miles and no major issues the 12 years I had it. I will take your advise and find a Honda shop that isn't a dealer.
Brandon, I wasn't trying to belittle you, but was making fun of the ultra goofy who pollute with impunity because they bought a carbon credit to do so. I've seen bumper stickers on gas hog cars that say "I've negated my carbon footprint by using carbon credits" Not exactly quoted, but this is the jist of it. I use the flourescents also, but only when the original bulb dies. I'm not throwing them away until I use them up.
A: the oxygen sensor can be tested for response rate but you in all probability don't have the tools to do the test.
On the 2004 CRV the on-board diagnostic system tests both the O2 sensor heater circuit and the operation of the O2 sensor every time the vehicle is driven. If there were a problem with the sensor the check engine light would be turned on by the OBD II system.
I don't know what problem you're trying to fix or why you ask, but if there were a problem with the O2 sensor the check engine light would be ON. That sensor is under factory warranty for 3 years or 50,000 miles whichever comes first.
hope that answers your question
Q: Best tires for a 2004 Honda CRV?
The latest set of tires on this car were supposedly 'High-Mileage' tires. Well, they wore out very quickly. What tires have you found are really good and have lasted long that would be good for this vehicle?
A: The 2004 Honda CRV takes what is only the most popular tire size in the world - P205/70R15 95S. So your choices are limited to just a few hundred.
If long treadlife is a concern there are a number of good choices. The Goodyear Assurance Comfotread and Assurance Tripletread both have 80k mileage warranties. The Tripletread would be the superior traction tire with the Comfotread being better for, well...
The Pirelli P4 4-Season has an 85k mile treadwear warranty and is attractively priced a bit below the Goodyear offerings.
The Michelin Hydroedge is the king-daddy of the roost with a 90k mileage warranty, though personally I am not impressed with this tire in snowy conditions if that is a concern for you. The Tripletread would be my choice in the snow belt.
On the economy end the Kumho Solus KR21 has an 85k mile warranty. A bit harder to find than the others but by far the least expensive of the bunch.
Oh yeah, make sure you get the alignment done this time when you have the tires installed and have it re-checked every year/10k miles. Also make sure you rotate the tires every other oil change. Lack of this type of maintenance is probably reponsible for the short life of your current set of tires. It always is.

Q: i have a 2004 honda crv. the "D" light is flashing. what does this mean?
when i first turn the car on, its fine. but after a few minutes of driving, it starts to flash.
A: ok the first thing u should do when something suprising pops up on the panel is dismount the battery just take off the neg or pos cable for about half an hour so the computer is completely off and when you turn it on it will give the car a fresh reboot and it might have just been a glitch but if it pops on it is deff serious and just see your local mech who changes your oil he should know about it
Q: how do the timing marks line up in a 2004 honda crv 2.4l?
A: the two cams have to be aligned with the VTEC sprockets and the crank. Its not easy to explain here. I can't attach a picture to this reply. If you want the scans of the service manual on where the marks are for the chains then click on the icon for my name next to this answer and select "email". Send me your email address and I'll send the scans to you.
hope that helps
Q: I have a 2004 honda CRV?
I was told that if I don't rotate my tires regularly I will burn out my differential. Is that true ??
A: That is absolutely false!!
Rotating the tires only helps to prolong the tread life on the tires as the tires that are in front wear faster and as per Honda should be rotated every 10,000 miles.
As far as the differential, the fluid should be replaced at the first 7,500 mile service then again at 30, 60,90 etc. otherwise you will notice a rumbling noise or vibration when making u-turns
I sure hope that was not a mechanic that told you this other nonsense.
Q: i have a 2004 honda crv.. can rims 215/35/18 fit on it? please anyone can answer?
A: The 18" rims will fit, but those tires are very skinny and narrow. You'll want to get 225/40/18, 225/45/18 or 235/45/18. These tires are wider and a bit taller, and that will make your ride more comfortable.
Q: How much does a 2004 honda crv alternator cost?
I am looking for a high amperage alternator since I have 2 amps in my system running at 900 watts rms and my lights slightly dim and later upgrading my amp to 100 rms so 1400 total will dim the hell out of it...
By the way how much is the installation?
100=1000**
I'm looking for about maybe 150-200 amp alternators. I think stock it 80??
A: your better bet is to take the alternator to an electrical shop who can rebuild the alternator to handle the extra wattage instead of trying to find one.
Better yet.. install a secondary battery, like a yellow top Optima, to power the amps & subs, put a battery isolator in between so you can still use your regular stock alternator, and the amps won't be affecting the vehicle electronics.
The alternator will charge both batteries at the same time, but won't be affected by the massive current draw from the amps. the yellow top will be able to dish out power without having to suffer.
Also put a capacitor in your mix as well, it won't do much to save current draw, but it'll help a bit, and when a loud thump comes, the cap will be able to power that current spike easily, and they recharge instantly.l
putting a larger alternator isn't a long term solution, as you'll eventually end up heating it up over time.
Q: I'm thinking of Turbo my 2004 Honda CRV 2.4 V-Tech Engine?
what turbe charge should I get. I saw one on eBay.com that cost less than $600. should I get it or what turbo kit should I get and from what website and if you have in experience on Turbocharging any car. what will affect my Engine and what should I look for. good or bad.

A: I dont thing anybody is going to give you a detailed write up on how to turbo your car. There is alot involved and you should do some research. What I know is the K series engines can handle alot of boost without tampering with the internals. Something to stay away from is ebay turbo kits. Its like lance armstrong riding a Target bike. It wont last and its dangerous! If they make it for your car i would suggest Turbonetics kits.
Turbos shorten the life of engines. A good tune is the key to unlock all the power and to keep the engine safe. Do some research on k series engines and turbo. Rsx, civics, accords and tsx use K series engines so you should be able to find a good amount of information.
Good luck
Q: Honda CrV 2004 odd question about headlights?
I have an odd occurance with my Honda CrV. Recently the beeper sound that happens when my headlights are left on or the key is in the ignition has stopped. Also, the interior light only comes on when the passenger door is opened, not the driver's door. I took it to the shop once before to be fixed and they said it wasn't a fuse, but it was some kind of button on the inside door of the car that got stuck. This problem is now back and I can't figure out where to find this button. Has anyone else had this problem or knows how to fix it?
A: You have to take the panel off the door, I think it's part of the door lock assembly. You can't see it with out the removal of the panel and requirs some basic understanding of how to take door panels off, otherwise you will break some clips on the panel itself.
The switch is looking to see when the door opens and sensd a signal to the module or controller that turns on the lights, and locks the doors and what not. It should be a simple fix for a qualified repair facility, costing in the neiborhood of, 200.00 - 250.00$ depending if the switch comes seperatly or with a latch. You can call a Honda dealership ask for parts, and ask the parts guy how much the part is. Labor is 125.00 or so in by shop. The part is called a door pin switch or the switch that turns on the dome light when you open the door. Every car make has their own wording for the same parts.
Q: Honda 2004 CRV "Valet" key?
I want to know whats the difference in the operation of the GREY Valet key and the BLACK regular key, which is the MASTER key the GREY one or the Black,or one without the chip?so the one with out the chip can go into the ocean,is that correct?anyone know?
so the GREY key is the VALET key without the chip?
A: the valet key will not operate the trunk, the trunk/gas hatch lever by the door, or the glove box. it will only start the engine and unlock the doors.
Q: which type/grade gas is good for CRV honda 2004.?
A: to tell you the truth 93 octane is the best out there. it has additives that help the engine. honda recommends that you use regular 87 octane. that is the minimum octane you can use. you can always use higher octane.
Q: Ok so i just got my new honda crv 2004, now which ins. is good?
A: progressive.
There's a special discount if you allow them to do a credit check on you.
Q: help me choose between. Honda CRV Exhaust, Drill Slot Rotor, or Bilstein HD Strut suspensino
I have less than a 1000 and what to add a little more accessory on my 2004 Honda CRV. so I got an cold air intake so I was thinking of getting a full catback exhaust from ebay that cost a total prices of 483 plus installation. Second that I have a 19" rims and low profile tires on my CRV so I was thinking of getting a Blistein HD suspension to lower it down and make it handle better and less road bumps and that cost $650 plus installation my Third choices which is not that much I require but I want to get a drill slot rotor and brakes so I can have a performance breaks and not get in accident that will cost me $285 plus installation. so please help me choice which one will you go with first to last.

A: Save your money, especially if you can't install the items yourself.
You certainly can put on a full catback exhaust with a huge 5" fartcan on the end so it sounds like a 300 lb gorrilla farted everytime you drive off, but why? It'll still be a CRV, it won't perform better, and it'll just sound stupid. If you love the sound of farting gorillas, go for it, spend 483 + installation to hear gorrillas fart... or just go to the zoo once in a while.
19" rims on a CRV? Are you kidding me? Why? I'm sure the Bilstein suspension is great, but if you want a good handling car, save your money and get something else. In addition, "...and less road bumps..." anything that makes the car handle better will make you feel road bumps more, not less. Handling involves stiffer suspension, less roll, etc.
Drilled and slotted rotors aren't a safety enhancement. If you need to stop better buy some good pads (Hawk, etc.)
Save your money for retirement so you don't have to drive a 40 year old CRV with 14" steel rims (cause you hit a bump and broke the 19s), a Bilstein suspension that rattles fillings loose with each 1/4 inch pavement crack and a catback exhaust that attracts gorrillas in heat.
