Q: 1990 honda crx problem help.?
Ok so my crx (1990 honda crx) was throwing a code 16 and won’t start. Here is what I have done so far. 1.Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor rotors, and cap. 2.Replaced Battery. 3. Replaced fuel filter. 4. Replaced fuel pump. How problem started. Problem started about 4 months ago. The car would run find while driving but once I turn the car off, it would not start. I would try a few times and then battery would die, and I would have to jump start the car. Every time I jumped it, it would start right up. It got to the point where the car would start, and I would drive it, and when I turned it off, it wouldn’t start for a few days. After about a day or 2, it would start right up again and repeat same process over and over. Fixing process. I finally decided to tune it up a bit. I did a full oil change, replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotors, and fuel filter. After that, it started right up again and ran find for about a day. On the second day, the problem came back again. I noticed that when starting the car, the check engine light would come on. Now when you first turn the key to the on position, the check engine light and all the other lights come on, I know this. But it goes off. What I am saying is during the starting process the check engine light comes on again. So I looked at the ecu and it was throwing code 16, which has to do with the fuel injectors. I was told to test the injectors’ resistance with an ohm meter. The primary injector should be showing between 0.6 and 1.6 ohms, and the auxiliary should be showing between 0.6 and 10 ohms. I tested them, and both seem to be good. I finally decided to get a fuel system cleaner. I put cleaner in and got the car to start. I ran the car all day without turning it off just in case. I even took it on the free way and ran it at high speed. After that, I turned the car off, and let it sit for about 18 hours. It was about 9pm at night and it was cold so I decided it was a good time to test the car. I tried to start it and it started right up with no hesitation. I then turned it off and tried it again just to make sure, and it started right up. So I drove it for about 5 minutes and then parked it again and turned it off and tried to start it again and it started right up again with no problem. So I figured the problem was fixed. The next morning, I went to do one last test. I tried to start it and it started find again, so I took it for another drive. While I was driving the car sounded like it ran out of gas and just died. I tried over and over to start it but best I could get it to do is start and then die 2 seconds later. I towed it home and tried to diagnose the problem again. First I checked the fuel filter and it had some dirt in it so I washed it out with gas. I put it back on and tried to start the car and still no luck. I took it off again and noticed there was no fuel going to the car anymore. I noticed I couldn’t hear the fuel pump either so I replaced the fuel pump. I turned the keys to the on position and waited a few minutes then checked the fuel line again to see if it had fuel in it and it had plenty lol. But I still can’t get car to start. So now I am back here again looking for help to see what could be the problem. I am still getting code 16 on my euc. What i was thinking is to replace the injectors one at a time to see which one was causing the problem. If anyone has any other ideas, Please let me know i am stuck lol. Is there a way to check the ignition coil to see if its bad?

A: Ignition module is more than likely faulty. Common problem on 90s hondas. Located under the cap inside the distributor.

Q: What is the best asking price for my 1990 honda civic crx..?
Its two door, flat black and i love it i just got a whole new front brake system but im 9 months pregnant and i need a bigger car what do you think i could sell it for.

A: It also depends on the mileage of the car and the condition of the transmission. The service history is also important if any major parts keep braking down it will reduce the price

Q: 1990 honda CRX ECU flashing 16 times with no pause.?
Ok I have a 1990 honda CRX DX model (1.5). Lately, I been having problems starting the car. Some times it will run find for a few months or so but every so often it just wont start. I replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, rotors and distributor cap. It started up like a champ, but after a few hours same thing started happening again it just wouldn't start. I checked the ecu and it was flashing but in a weird way that I have never seen. I know from 1-9 you just get short flashes. and for each 10 you get a long flash. So for example, lets say code 16 would be 1 long flash, then a pause, and 6 short flashes. But my ecu is flashing 16 short flashes with out pause. It will flash 16 times (short flashes) then stop, and then repeat the process again. If anybody know what this means please let me know because i am soo lost on this lol. Thanks in advance for any help.

A: back then the codes were simple flashes so you have a code 16 for a problem with a fuel injector. the diagnosis says to pull the hazzard fuse and leave it out for about 3 minutes, then put it back in. that will clear the memory of the ECU. Then start the engine and run it at 2000 rpm for 3 minutes. if the code resets the problem is a 'live' problem. it it doesn't then the problem is intermittant. the diagnosis is to check the resistance of each injector with a digital volt ohmeter. you should have between 0.6 and 1.6 ohms of resistance on the primary injectors and between 0.6 and 10 ohms on the auxillary injector (cold start injector). if the resistance is out of range the injector is open (0 ohms) or shorted (windings shorted). From your description of the trouble starting the engine and the possibility that it is the auxillary injector (cold start injector) I would have to think that is where you should start your testing. the auxillary injector is used in place of a choke to supply extra fuel to get a cold engine started. without it working you'll have all kinds of problems starting it and driving it if it does get started. you'll need to replace the injector to fix it. hope that helps

Q: Does the 1990 Honda CRX Si have backseats?
I was just wondering, b/c i can't find any pics and it wouldn't be very useful for me if it didn't.

A: The CRXs that were exported to the US and Europe had no back seats. The CRXs that were for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) did have back seats. If you get one from Japan or Australia it will have back seats, but they wouldnt be good for anything other than a baby. You may be able to buy the seats and install them yourself but keep in mind you might have to drill holes and such.

Q: i have a 1990 honda crx base model 1.5 non vtech what motor can i put in it with out changing to many things.?
i was trying to go non vtech but if there is one that would fit without any problems or changing motor mounts

A: You could do the "mini-me" swap, which is taking the head and ECU from a 1.6 SOHC vtec (D16z6 or D16y8) and mating it to your CRX block. This will give you better flow and VTEC. On a car as small and light as the CRX you will be able to tell the difference in "pep". You could go for the DOHC B16, but they cause some fitment problems and will require some fabrication to get it to fit. And you can forget about keeping A/C with that setup.

Q: 1990 honda crx idle problem?
my car idles like i am getting on and off of the throttle. Also my temperature reads that the car is overheated even if it has been sitting all night and i start it the next morning the temp hand goes all the way to the max. Im not sure if this is related or not. Either way. Will a new throttle position sensor fix my idle problem? Ill award the points the best answer.

A: it may not be the throttle position sensor, unless you have had a computer scan done on it,and know this for sure,id have it scanned, this can be caused by a number of sensors on that car, even a dirty gas filter will cause that to happen all the time,or a fuel pump going bad,it sounds like a fuel problem with it,but without having it scanned ,you cant guess at whats wrong with it,that can get pretty expensive these days, have it scanned and then you,ll know for sure whats wrong with it,only a computer scan tell you if it has any bad sensors on it,good luck with it.,,PS those also have an idle air control valve that can get stopped up on them, that too will cause it to run like this, try cleaning the old one out ,and see if that helps it.

Q: good deal on a 1990 honda civic CRX?
is this a good deal $1200 for a 90 honda civic CRX with 230000MI on it? it looks good and runs good and 5spd so thats a plus.

A: Unless they've made alot of repairs recently that seems like alot for a car that old and worn out. I hope you have money saved for repairs and good life insurance for that death trap. Other then seats belts, most antique cars don't have ABS, Air-bags, body cages, ESC, etc.

A: i only have 9inch of space behind the seats in my car so i custom made the boxes from MDF and a home fiberglass kit. mount them where you feel they are the best for you. most normaly go in the boot as its out of sight from prying eyes.

Q: what is a c/v join? need help finding it for my 1990 honda crx.?
I keep hearing a clicking sound when ever i turn left or right. I was told my cv joint is going out. I searched online for it and i can never seem to find it anywhere. Is there another name for it or does it come as part of the axle or something.? If i get a new axle will it have a cv joint? lol any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

A: Also called a halfshaft, you can find it at Rockauto.com (Search for your car, it's under Drivetrain components. About $60 per side for the part, plus shipping) It allows the engine to supply power to the wheel at different angles, since your driven wheels are also for steering. I'd highly recommend also picking up a Haynes manual before attempting to replace the halfshafts.

Q: my boyfriend has a 1990 honda crx. he has a cd player. it doesnt pick up radio.what does it need? suggestions?

A: Did he instal the cd player himself?? if so he probably forgot to plug the antena into the back of the cd player. or didnt do it right.. all he has to do is pull the CD player out and look at the back to see if its connected, usually the antena cord had a metal piece at the end for you to plug it in.

Q: 1990 Honda CRX Si Help?
Can anyone tell me a little about their experience with this car, being a daily or driver, or street racing this little bad boy, the good and the bad please? I'm in the market for one, and I have found one at a used car dealership, but I need to seat three for school, is it possible, to squeeze in that many? Also, I need someone to tell me the prices, or a rough estimate of these alterations: Racing Seats? Rims? LED's on the Undercarriage? A Nicer than Default engine? Nitrous Set Up? Butterfly or Gullwing doors? Hood scoop or breather? Body kits? And last but not least, a new paint job? Feel free to suggest any other alterations that would enhance the racing performance or look of the car. I know I'm asking a lot, feel free to pick and choose what you would like to answer, but full input is greatly appreciated!

A: there good cars as daily drivers. you can fit 3 people. as far as modifying it i can only help in the area of what i think is cool and not absolutely retarded ricer. alright. racing seats: wait on that. you will want recaros or sparcos and those can be 1200 a seat and thats and average price. save this till its fast enough that you would want sporty seats. for now upgrade to like 99 civic si seats or integra gsr or even type r seats. rims: enkies are the only aftermarket rims i would buy for a honda off the top of my head. or you could look through tuner magazines for rims. there not to exspensive. id go 17" at the biggest. Neons/LEDs: gay. very ricer not worth it absolutely despise people who ruin honda's by doing stupid shit like that. but thats only my opinion no offense intended. Nicer than stock motor: these are the motors i would put in. they can range from 1000-7000 depending how you get it. :) i have homie hookups so i get them cheap. ok heres the motor list B16a B16a2 B16b B18b1 (if you do Ls VTEC) B18a1 (if you do Ls VTEC) B18c B18c1 B18c3 B18c5 B18c6 B18c7 H22a K20a K20a2 NOS: unless you are going full track car do not waste your money because seriously when will you use it? its just stupid and a waste of money. even if you go to the track you are better off going turbo because nos has a tendancy to blow your motor. so no no on nos unless full race car. Lambo doors: again my opinion. ugly stupid waste of money not even cool just turns you into a ricer. but the way i look at things is i build the motor so its hella fast before i do stupid cosmetics even then i only make the car look stock and very clean or make it look JDM Hood scoop: ugly and you dont need it because the intake dips down in back of the front wheels so it would be pointless and ugly. get a stock looking carbon fibre hood. and in carbon fibre case i like to paint the outside the color of the car but leave the inside unpainted so u can show it really is carbon fibre ;) Body Kits: and again i think there stupid ugly waste of money. i go for the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) look which means buying parts from japan like the fenders front lips spoilers that come stock there because they are different here. it looks rare and clean. but hey our diversity unites us tuners.... paint. with a crx i would go Flamenco Black. its sexy. the color on a 99-00 Civic Si looks very nice. or just go jet black with a few layers of clear coats. either way it shouldnt cost you an arm and a leg. again my advice would be to build the motor then go for looks. good luck
