Q: What are my options for purchasing warranty on my Honda Civic?
Factory warranty on my 2004 Honda Civic LX has expired. Can someone tell me what are my options for purchasing warranty?

A: I agree with Sailor. Honda Civics are very reliable. I have a 2000 Civic with 74K miles and with normal maintenance (3000-mile oil changes, air filters, radiator flush and spark plugs), it's been running very well. To do: timing belt, water pump and transmission fluid flush, brakes. I expect more than 200K miles on the powertrain. I knew a guy who once got more than 650K miles on a 1980's vintage Civic before he sold it and bought another Honda. Find out how much you would have to spend on an extended warranty and put those funds in a money market account. Use it to pay for any catostrophic failures that probably won't happen, and you will come out ahead at the end. Any Honda dealer will be glad to quote and sell you a warranty. Also call your auto insurance agent or even AAA for a warranty quote.

Q: How to remove rear speakers for a 1998 Honda Civic?
I bought some new speakers for my car (98' Honda Civic) and I don't know how to remove the regular back speakers so I can install the new ones. Can I get some instructions on how to remove them?

A: You don't need to cut the wires at all, I just got mine installed in 5 minutes with the adapter speaker plug, I got them from Amazon for 16 bucks but you save a lot of time and you don't mess the wire system of your car with the black tape and stuff. Here is a quick guide to on how to remove the rear speakers form a coupe - with pictures and FREE. May or may not be the same for 1992-1995 models, I haven't seen one to compare. Please do not be put off by this, it really is easy when you know how and the results from quality speakers are well worth the effort. Standard disclaimer: The instructions given below are intended as guidelines only. Any dismantling of your vehicle you do yourself, and the author of this document cannot and does not accept any responsibility for any damage incurred by you dismantling or refitting components incorrectly. Tools Required: 10mm Socket 12mm Socket 14mm Socket Phillips Screwdriver You don't need to cut the wires at all, I just got mine installed in 5 minutes with the adapter speaker plug, I got them from Amazon for 16 bucks but you save a lot of time and you don't mess the wire system of your car with the black tape and stuff. Know your enemy: Rear seats have a 40/60 split and can be folded down, but to get to the speakers they have to come out... Fold down both seats and unclip the carpet trim from the back (just pull the carpet and the clips should pop out). Yep, that's my big sub woofer. You need to unbolt the 4 10mm bolts holding the 40 seat in place, you can then pull it towards you and out. Also do the two bolts holding in the 60 split seat Next you need to unbolt the 10mm bolt on the right, then the 12mm on the left. Keep the bolts and brackets safe. When they are undone the 60 split seat should be able to come out. Another 12mm bolt on this bracket. Towards the centre of the seat is another 10mm bolt holding the lower seat in. Undo this and the seat should lift up from the back and unclip from the front. Now the seats are out, nearly there.... ...Well actually I lied, were not half way yet! You need to loosen the right hand bolt (closest to the front seats) and undo the rear one. They were 14mm bolts on mine. Do both sides of the car. Should have something like this... Undo the Phillips screw in each rear panel... The panels should unclip from the door frame and come out quite easily. The plastic cover on the parcel shelf (rear deck) should now unclip at the front to allow you to lift and pop the other clips. It will then come out. You can now unclip and unscrew the old speakers and drop in your new ones. I'm putting in my Kenwood KFC9605 speakers. Make sure that they work and you are happy with them before you reassemble the car, you don't want to be doing this again in a hurry!! Reassembly of the car is the reverse of the above process. Just watch out on the 60 split seat, make sure you put the hinge in the bearing before you bolt it down!

Q: How much does a timing belt replacement cost on a honda civic?
I have a 1998 Honda Civic lx. I have 185,000 miles on it and have been told multiple times that i should have the timing belt replaced. Does anyone know how much that generally costs? There is a place here that says that the price starts at $199. Let me know your thoughts!!! Thanks!

A: The labour time is 3.6 hours for that job. This quote is for air conditioning, cruise control power steering which will all interfere with getting to the timing belt. Now because the water pump is driven by the timing belt, it makes sense to replace it at the same time. The belt will be around $60 and the pump is almost $90 from the dealer. The labour is the shops door rate times the 3.6... I just did one yesterday. - Automotive apprentice

Q: How do I change my wipers on a 2004 Honda Civic?
Does anyone have experience changing the wipers on a 2001-2005 Honda Civic? Can't seem to get mine off the arm even after reading the manual.

A: if you're looking to replace the blades then lift the wiper arm up off of the windshield so that it stands up on the pivot. then flip the wiper blad over so that the rubber insert is facing upward. look at the wiper arm that hold the blade. you'll see the end of the arm looks like a hook ( J. ) push the wiper blade down the wiper arm (towards the windshield) until the wiper blade detatches from the hook. then move the wiper blade to the full side of the gap in the blade so that the hook slides through the opening and the blade is free from the arm. once you do one you'll get the hang of it. pay attention to the orientation of the blade when you remove it so that you can put the new one on the same way. by the way, its much less expensive to change the inserts (just the rubber that goes inside the metal blade). Honda dealers will usually put the inserts on at no charge if you buy the inserts from them hope that helps

Q: How much does it cost to paint a 2001 Honda Civic LX coupe black?
I am looking to buy a 2001 Honda Civic LX coupe, and its a really good deal, but its bright gold. How much would it cost to have it painted black? I am able to spend upwards to 600-700 dollars, but wouldn't mind spending less. At the same time, I don't want a cheap job done and have my paint flaking a year later. Thanks so much!

A: u will not get it done for that much unless u go to someone who does it on the side, a shop will charge anywhere from 1500up

Q: How much should brake repairs cost for a 94 honda civic?
How much should it cost to replace the front end brake pads/shoes, calipers, brake fluid, rotors and/or drums on a 94 Honda Civic, including all parts and labour etc.? What can I do to make sure I'm not being overcharged or paying for unecessary repairs or services?

A: Call up a Honda dealer as well as a couple of other places to find out how much they will charge you. The two big differences will be the labour rates of each shop as well if they use original Honda parts or aftermarket parts.

Q: what good speakers should i put in a 94 honda civic?
I got a 94 honda civic and the speakers that came with the car suck!...so im planning getting new speackers for my car but i dont know were to start like what good brands are out there or nothing like that all i know is that my speackers are 6 1/2 that about it need help!

A: I like my Pioneer TS-A6971Rs (6"x9"s) in my 1993 Civic.

Q: What car (with the same price range) is better than a Honda Civic?
I am planning on buying a Honda Civic. I am 21 years old, and I like the civic because it looks nice, reliable, and its good on gas. I will also be driving a lot. Is there another car that is just as great, for the same price range, like a Mini cooper (or is that too much and can break down easily)? I also want a car that doesn't cost a fortune to repair (like what I have heard about Volkswagons)

A: Mazda 3 is the way to go if you are looking for an alternative to the Civic. It is actually a little cheaper when comparably equipped ($1,000-$1200). In the US, the new Saturn Astra is also worth a look. It will probably be a tad less to insure.

Q: What car should i get a Toyota 4runner or a Honda Civic?
I have to choose between these two cars and i dont know which, the toyota 4 runner is a 1997, 4 cylinders and has 4 doors,. The honda civic is a 1999, 4 cylinder, and has 4 doors . Price isnt a factor here.

A: well one is a truck the other is a car. as trucks go the 4Runner does have very good handling and manners compared to most trrucks but it will get lower mpg than a Civic. I just drove home in a heavy rain storm and several cars were stalled on the side of the road. (high water) I drove my truck very slowly thru the water and arrived home without suffering the same fate. trucks do have some advantages. one of the cool things about 4Runners is the rear glass can be lowered and raised. If you open the windows it creates a nice flow of air. a unique feature not found on most trucks. you can find Nissian Pathfinders & Xterras for a few thousand dollars less than a 4Runner. the Xterra is capable off road, if you ever need that but it does suffer from some truck like handling and chop over hwy bumps.

Q: How do you take out the clock in a 1993 honda civic?
I have a 1993 honda civic and a 1992 one. I drive the '92 and the '93 has the clock and I want to put it in the other one. I went to take it out and it seems jammed or something. I was just wondering if there is a easy removal of this contraption.

A: its screwed into dash you will have to take area around clock apart to take it out

Q: How do I replace my stock headlights and tail lights on my 2001 honda civic ex coupe?
So yeah...I have a 2001 honda civic coupe and I just got new projector halo head lights and tail lights. A) What do I need to know about head lights and tail lights before I start? B) How is it done?

A: Best thing to do is get a repair manual for your car if you plan on working on it. Its the best and quickest way to learn the in and outs of your car. Removing your headlights should be covered in there.

Q: How much would it cost to fix a blown head gasket on a Honda Civic?
Im interested in a 1993 Honda Civic for $2000.00. Good shape except for a blown head gasket, is it worth fixing, or should i just keep looking?

A: A blown head gasket is going to cost you that much to get fixed by a repair shop, give or take a few hundred $$$. I wouldn't pay anymore than $500.00 for it. If you do it yourself... $500-800 in parts and machine work. You will need too have the heads resurface and tested for cracks at a machine shop/possibly replaced if they are cracked. That might be a little on the low end though, because we get discounted parts. About a week long project for a shop. Maybe longer for you. The choice is yours, How mechanically inclined are you and do you have the time to devote to it?
