Q: Where can I find a motor for my 2000 honda civic ex coupe. Somewhere inexpensive & crediable.?
My 2000 Honda Civic EX has a bad valve. Recommended to replace motor. Trying to find some place crediable and inexpensive located in Redlands / San Bernardino, CA. Something with low mileage if possible and/or somebody who would like to take over payments.
A: Here is what I do. http://www.salvageyardautoparts.com/
Q: When do you actually need to replace the timing belt in a 2000 Honda Civic.?
I drive a 2000 Civic with 91000 miles. My mechanic (the dealer) told me when I got an oil change that I needed to spend $3000 on repairs such as the timing belt, oil pan, water pump, exhaust, 90000 mile check up, radiator fluid. I want to make the best decision possible and know little about cars.
A: What they HEY ?!?! Ask why. As long as the car starts and runs, the belt shows no wear or breaks, and is still supple leave it alone. How could he see it anyway, unless he tore it down? Could it be the serpentine belt that runs the AC, alternator, water pump, and such? If there are breaks and splits in it I would change it. Why do anything to the oil pan? Oil pan leaks are rare. If the water pump is not leaking, not making noise, or the impeller isn't lose - leave it alone. Does the exhaust leak? Leave it alone. If the radiator fluid - aka antifreeze - hasn't been changed in two years, go ahead and drain out the old and fill up with no less than a 70% antifreeze, 30% water solution.
I would want a real good, solid reason to have all that done. You have the right to refuse to have them do the work.
Q: 2000 Honda Civic check engine light and brake help?
Does the 2000 Honda Civic have a light for the check engine? Mine looks more like a piece of paper than a light, and is barely luminated at night. I need to know if this is normal for civics. Also, the light (paper) was red for an O2 sensor, but when I got some maintainance (belts) done, it turned green, but the OBD sensor still reads the faulty O2 sensor. Any ideas? Also, when I have the car in drive and on the brake (at a stoplight or in an intersection) for more than about 5 sec, the car starts rattling. I just put new shoes, pads, and resurfaced the rotors. Again, any ideas? If you can answer either question, please help me out. Thanks.
A: the O2 deal might be because of your intake. Check your air filter and have someone do a diagnostic check on your engine. As far as the breaks and the rattling, might want to look in to having your brakes aligned, or see if your motor mounts are in need of changing. I'm no mechanic, but, I had a used Honda Prelude once. I worked on that damn thing every weekend, till I sold it to another lonely sucker. LOL!!!
Good luck dude.
Q: how do i fix the illumination in my 2000 honda civic?

A: is it possible you messed with a wire you shouldnt have?if its not a fuse then it sounds like it might be a bad ground.
Q: Price for a Clutch on a 2000 Honda Civic EX?
I am looking to buy a 2000 Honda Civic EX and it is in good condition except it needs a new clutch. I was wondering what the cost for one plus installation would be.
A: depends where you go if you go to a clutch centre your looking at 200 plus for it to be installed.

What exactly do i do to buy the plastic cover for my inside/interior light at the honda dealership? do i just walk in and ask for that specific piece?? are u sure the dealership has that piece for my 2000 honda civic si? its the light inside the car above the drivers head next to the moon roof button. help please???
A: Just tell them what year and model you have. They will look up the correct part number for you. They might have it in stock or they might need to order it.
Q: will any all in one entertainment system work on a 2000 honda civic dx.?
will one of those all in one entertainment systems(cd player, gps, and maybe DVD.) that nissan or other car companys put on their cars work on my 2000 honda civic dx.
A: You wouldnt want to buy a system out of another car, you're best bet is to buy a new all-in-one entertainment stereo.
Check out the Pioneer AVIC series.
You will also have to buy a double din dash kit.
Q: 2000 honda civic with obd0 engine no spark tried everything?
i took out my type r motor and put in this single cam to get rid of the car. I tired a 2000 civic ex engine harness no spark, then i changed the dizzy and nothing so i changed the plugs and the ecu and the engine harness. so now it has a 2000 si engine harness off the type r and running a 2000 si ecu and a dizzy that i know that works and still no spark wtf?
A: obd-0 engines do not have engine knock sensors so in that sense you need a odb-0 ecu to run it. because a obd-1 or 2 ecu will not fire due to the fact that the engine cannot tell if there is detonation or not in the engine thus it cannot advance or retard timing to keep the engine running properly. if you dont know about the differences in OBD-0,1,2 then i suggest you not swap engines any more
Q: Replacing a timing belt and water pump on 2000 Honda Civic.?
I need to know how to install a new water pump and timing belt on a 2000 Honda Civic EX-1.6 liter. Any information would be helpful.
A: I have done this job 5 times on your generation of Civic including mine twice.
My advice is to purchase a manual as my explanation would take me an hour to type.
I suggest you set aside at least 6 hours if it's your first time.
Make sure you have all the required parts for the work.
I suggest only using OEM parts from Honda and fresh coolant as well.
It is not as difficult a job to do as one would think.
Q: How much is a 2000 honda civic si?
Hi, how much would a 2000 honda civic si cost. One that is in good condition, and not abused. Also what is better a 1999 civis si or the 2000? how much is the 1999 and 2000? I would like to buy one for my first car. thanks
A: I would advise going to
http://www.kbb.com
Kelly Blue Book will give you retail ( Dealership) pricing as well as personal sale price and bank loan amount. As far as which car is better, I don't have a opinion. I actually prefer Chevy / GM vehicles.
Good luck!
Q: Any knowledge about 2000 honda civic si?
I just bought a 2000 honda civic si. This is going to sound really stupid but....how in the world do you turn on the little yellow lights underneath the headlights. I hope I am describing this well enough. P.S. I do not have the owner's manual...so don't tell me to look there...lol. Thanks.
A: I'm going to assume when you say "yellow lights" that you're speaking of the fog lights that are attached to the bumper.
To turn these on, you would need the "fog light" switch/button. The button is usually located on the left hand side panel. However, if they were not factory installed, they could be located near the E-brake or somewhere else inside the vehicle. If you do not find it, look under your bumper to see if there is a harness that is connected to the lights. If it exists, look for a button that looks like this: http://icbmotorsport.com/new3/jdm_dc2_eg...
If you can not find that button then you'll likely need one if the harness exists. If the harness does not exist, you'll need both.
It'll only then turn on if the button and the light switch is on.
Q: Can I directly connect xm sportscaster to my 2000 Honda Civic?
I recently got xm radio with the sportscaster receiver. I have a 2000 Honda Civic with the factory stereo system. I don't want my factory stereo to control my xm radio. The sportscaster has a headphone jack on it. Can I directly wire from the headphone jack to my factory stereo system? I have seen cords that can do this for home stereo systems and I figured I might be able to save a lot of money by wiring it this way. If this is possible, how do I do it? I want to keep the factory stereo, but I do not want it to control my xm receiver.
A: Yes, you can. If you do not have external audio sources such as a factory disk changer, tape player. It is also not compatible with factory radios that have a built in 6 disk changer.
Here are the parts you will need:
Peripheral Electronics part # PXDX This is the audio converter.
Peripheral Electronics part # PXHHD1 This is the vehicle specific wiring harness.
You will also need an 1/8" headphone to RCA cable (Radio shack should have these)
This is peripheral's application guide where I found this information:
http://www.peripheralelectronics.com/pdfs/Aux_Input_App_Guide.pdf
It should not cost more than $100.
Q: Can My 2000 Honda Civic make it over the mountains from Northern California to Salem Oregon?
I have a four-cylinder honda Civic coupe DX w/ AT and I was wondering if it would be okay to drive it from Redding Ca up to Salem Oregon on I-5 over the Siskiyou mountains. My boyfriend has a GMC Canyon, but i wanted to try and take my car to save gas. I know it will be fine once i make it over the Siskiyous, but I wanted your opinion on if you think it would be a good idea. My car is in good shape and only has 65,000 miles on it. Also if you have any tips for me as far as changing gears and such please share. Thanks!
A: The other answers were general in nature with some good driving tips. My answer is very specific to traveling in southern Oregon.
1. Plan to drive early in the day. Avoid the heat by getting over the mountains before noon. You are leaving from Redding, so hit the road no later than 6 a.m. You'll clear the Siskiyous by 9 a.m. and the other mountain passes -- Sexton, Stage, Smith and Canyon -- by noon.
2. Take along a cell phone. Dial 411 for road conditions. The Siskiyous can shut down temporarily due to a major crash.
3. Fuel up in Yreka (before crossing the Siskiyous) and again in Grants Pass (before crossing Sexton, Stage Smith and Canyon mountain passes). This gives you a chance to check your car over, take a restroom break, and reload your personal water supply.
4. Carry TWO supplies of water. Two one-gallon milk jugs for your car. And at least a liter for yourself. Good samaritans have placed water along the mountain passes in areas where cars often overheat but don't expect to find them (summer is a busy traveling season).
5. Finally, don't overload your car. A Honda Civic can clear these mountains just fine. A Honda Civic loaded to the gills will not. College students are notorious for this. The car is loaded from floor to roof with clothing, books, furniture, skis and so on. The driver can't even see out the rear-view window. This is dangerous and really increases the odds you'll have a breakdown on the mountains.
Drive safely.
Q: What kind of oil should I use in a 2000 Honda Civic LX?
The owner's manual encourages me to get specially formulated oil from Honda, but it's just a plain old civic and it doesn't give me any idea on whether I should go 5w30 or 10w30 or whatever.
A: dude i always use castrol. its the best. use 5w-30 it is what nost cars today call for. use high millage if you have high miles, it really helps.
Q: how do i make the air secor on my 2000 honda civic fit in my new short ram intake?
ok so i bought a new short ram intake the other day for my 2000 Honda Civic EX and i made sure that it had three holes, two for hoses, and one for my air sencor but how do i get my secor to fit in the hole its made for? (i'll be truthful here, i bought my intake off of ebay) Thanks
~BEN~
A: if you bought it off ebay...it might be a cheap knock off...or one of those 'universal' fit kinds. plus if you live in california, you'll need a CARB sticker on it. otherwise if you get pulled over, the cops can cite you for having illegas emission upgrades on your car. most states are now adopting california emission standards as well.
my suggestion, if you really want to use the intake, find a tap or something to enlarge the hole so the sensor will fit. if it fits, and there's just no way for it to stay, you can always just buy a grommet from your local hardware store. or duct tape it.
but i strongly suggest buying an intake from a reputable company like injen, aem/dc sports or skunk2. they make intakes that fit your car, and are emissions legal. you can also get these off ebay [i got most my performance parts off ebay], but make sure the seller is selling legit goods. check their feedback
