Q: How much will a sunroof cost for a 2002 Honda Civic?
Hey everyone, I was just wondering how much a sunroof for a 2002 Honda Civic would be? I acutally saw a Honda Civic with 2 sunroofs, that is my inspiration, but Im curious about the price. Not sure if I should go to my local Honda dealer and just ask them, but I live in Augusta, Georgia. Not sure if I would want to drive to Atlanta for the best deal either. Thanks for your help!!

A: i wouldn't trust a sunroof unless its factory installed

Q: Is the "performance chip" for a 2002 honda civic worth the money or is it a rip off? does it cause less mpg?
I want to make my 2002 honda civic faster. I just purchased 4-1 performance headers, but not the larger downpipe. I want more power. What kinda things should i do? Chip? Anyone know about sway bars and strut bars?

A: Now that you have a header your next goal should be to finish off the exhaust with larger pipe and a high flow cat. If you haven't got an Intake yet then definitely get one, the brand of intake doesn't really matter but make sure to get a good filter like K&N or AEM. Chips can make a good difference because you computer is tuned down for emissions and economy, yes a chip will reduce your fuel economy but not real bad (not as bad as your own right foot). If you do want a chip DO NOT even touch the crap on ebay, take the ecu to a reputable shop and have a chip installed, you can get it done for around $80-100, most of the ebay ecu chips are just standard maps on cheap chips done by some random guy at home trying to make a quick buck some may be decent but not worth the gamble, or it is one of those crap resistors you hook up to the AIT sensor, if you want that just pick up a resistor from radioshack and stick it in series with your ait sensor, only cost you about 50 cents and is still a waste of money, you would have to find out what resistance would be right. One free area you could focus on is weight reduction which will improve every aspect of your car (acceleration, handling, braking, ability to reach top speed and economy). Strut and sway bars can be beneficial and help increase rigidity but the cheapies are usually just a thin stick of aluminum that you can flex in your hands... don't think those do anything but add a little weight to your car. Before you spend money on strut bars get some good suspension and wider tires, that's the best thing you could do for your handling. Stay away from large rims because they are heavy and will only suck more gas and slow you down unless you spend a lot of money for light weight rims. As far as other things you could do it just comes down to your budget and what areas you want to upgrade: intake manifold, IM gasket, distributor, ignition, irridium plugs, spark wires, fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail, cams, cam gears, pulleys, flywheel, clutch, carbon fiber, light windows, pistons, engine swap, turbo... and so on and so on but you should always start with the bolt ons because if you did install a turbo, injectors, cams or whatever your oem equipment would be too restrictive for flow.

Q: Which aftermarket keyless entry system (or kit) to use on a 2002 Honda Civic LX?
My 2002 Honda Civic LX has power door locks, but NO keyless entry. I want to add a keyless entry, but the OEM is discontinued. Since I can't get the OEM, which aftermarket would you recommend? Anyone installed an aftermarket keyless entry in a 2002 Civic LX (or had one installed) that is working well? Thanks.

A: Try this one, http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product?storeId=10101&Pr=p_Product.CATENTRY_ID%3A2001393&TID=101&productId=2001393&catalogId=10101

Q: Is the default Honda Civic 2002 battery a 12-volt system with negative ground?
I am trying to use my wife's Honda Civic 2002 EX 4-door Sedan to jump start another car (my Chevy Lumina 1993). The Honda has the original Honda battery from the dealer. The Chevy Lumina manual states that the car you use to jump it must have "a 12-volt system with a negative ground".

A: All the cars I know have a negative ground including Honda, Toyota, etc... if you want to be sure get a multi-meter and check

Q: How do I shift my 2002 Honda Civic LX properly?
I bought a used 2002 Honda Civic LX and I need to know what RPM's I should be shifting...It's not an Si, its has a 1.7 liter engine so im only asking so i can get more fuel effeciency for now...I also need to know what would be the limit to shift at...ive never gone past maybe 4.5K

A: well just do not bring it in the red zone 3 3/4 is a good shifting point to try and get good mileage. plus you can put it in neutral and coast for miles. thats what i do and my toyota gets 550km/per tank.

Q: How can I get a replacement key for 2002 Honda Civic?
I have lost the one and only key that came with our used Honda Civic. I have read that the key will need to made by a dealership since it has a chip in it. Will the car need to be present to make a new copy of the key or can they make a copy with just the VIN? I would rather not pay to have it towed to the dealer.

A: if your 02 civic has the immobilizer system (and it probably does), then your keys have a chip in them, and your car has a receiver in it. if you want a new key, you have two options. 1) get a copy made of your current key, and have the chip in the copy matched to the chip in your existing key. or 2) have a new key cut for your car, and have the car re-programmed to recognize the new key. since you don't have any keys to copy, you'll have to take your car to the dealer. the dealer can cut you a new key off the VIN, and they can program your car to recognize it. it is possible to start a newer honda with an properly cut but unrecognized key, but there is a specific set of instructions involving the brake pedal to allow the car to start. your local dealer may or may not be willing to give you that info, it can be very difficult to do properly.

Q: Question About Tinting For My 2002 Honda Civic EX?
I want To get my Back windows and my sunroof tinted The Darkest Black I can on my 2002 4-Door Honda Civic EX How much would that cost?

A: first off don't tint your sunroof because it already comes with a light tint and it has a cover. second its not going to matter how dark you want your tint, it's the quality of the tint. if the tint is of a low quality it will turn purple and get air bubble, and if the film is too thick it will scratch your window. you could probably get away with any tint. i have a 08 honda civic si coupe in CA where any film is illegal on the front windows but ive managed to get away with 5% in the rear and 15% on the front windows, i got the front windshield tinted too, 35%. never been pulled over jus keep your sunroof cover open.

Q: What type of shock absorbers are fitted in a 2002 Honda Civic 1.7L 4dr sedan??

Thank You.

Q: How do you jack up a Honda Civic 2002 to work underneath?
I've had this same problem with all three of my cars, an 86 Accord, 2000 Civic and 2002 Civic HB. There are four jack points behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels for changing tires, but if you want to get under there you have to put the car on jack stands. So where do they go once you have one side up since I'm limited to the four points? I've been putting it on the little hook under there, beneath the engine, but that's just one point. Or maybe there's two hooks? My car's too low to drive up onto ramps.

A: My Honda CRV has the four points you talk about plus one point at back and one point at front that I can use a trolley floor jack and it will lift the front or back up balanced. The back one can sometimes be a way in and you can only get at it when you get down on hands and knees but front is usually under the bottom of rad or just ahead or behind it. My Nissan also had this as does my friend's Mazda so yours should as well. Check owner's manual for these points. I had a car that was too low as well for ramps , what I did was drive it up onto some wide wooden planks to raise it and then I could slide the ramps up to it without hitting the spoiler. good luck.

Q: BRAKE light on dash of 2002 Honda Civic?
My BRAKE light is constantly on in the dash of my 2002 Honda Civic... What can be causing this? (The emergency brake isn't engaged....) Sorry if this is a dumb question. I've never owned a car before.

A: There are really only two things that make that light come on... 1. Low brake fluid in the master cylinder on the fire wall. 2. Emergency brake is either on or the switch is faulty. My guess is that your fluid is low in the master cylinder. Your brakes use more and more fluid out of the reservoir atop the master cylinder because the brake pads are getting thinner and thinner as they wear out. Thinning pads mean they have farther to travel to stop the car. Moving further takes more fluid and your reservoir level goes down. Hondas have a switch going to the master cylinder reservoir cap that monitors this fluid level. At a certain level this switch activates the brake light on your dash. Buy some DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid and add it to the reservoir to clear the light. Just remember that a low fluid level indicates brakes that are wearing out... it might be time to have a brake job done!

Q: Where can i buy a second hand automatic gearbox for a 2002 honda civic 1.6 executive.?
The automatic gearbox on my Honda civic has gone and i've been told that a new one would be £3,000!!! I've been trying to find a second hand one for ages and just cant find one - i need your help desperately please!

A: Hi Sugababe. Have you considered a third option? Have your existing gearbox rebuilt. I don't know where you are, but a couple of links in my area (Manchester) are:- www.automatictransmissions.co.uk (John Lugo, a long established and well trusted firm, and John himself is a great guy) www.carvertrnsmission.co.uk (another Manchester based firm, but I believe they do mail order) Also try Exchange & Mart, Auto Express,Local yellow pages. £3k sounds a hell of a lot of bread to me sunshine.Good luck

Q: Is it OK to use premium gas on a 2002 honda civic sedan?
I use to use shell regular gas on my 80,000 mile civic but now with gas being so cheap i have started using shell premium gasoline. Is that Ok for the car or a bad thing?

A: it is fine to use either, the computer in certain circumstances will advance the timing slightly more if you use the higher octane fuel, it does after all react to pre-detonation knocking, which might give you a slight advantage, however, for regular driving there is not an advantage to purchasing the more costly fuel....
