Q: How much for Front Disc Brake Pad replacement for 2000 Honda Odyssey? Both front wheels with genuine Honda prt?
How much did you pay to have your 2000 Honda Odyssey frond disc brake pads replaced? Thanks.
Genuine honda brake pads are being used here.
A: had it done at the dealership sure i paid more to have it done but i know it was done right the first time and no worries it was about $425.00
Q: where is the 2004 Honda Odyssey's Transmission fluid plug?
I need to pour new transmission fluid into 04 Honda Odyssey. Any one had idea where is the plug ?
A: Unless someone has made and put a plug in, there is no plug. You take the transmission pan off... a messy job if you don't have the tools.
Q: Where can I find a rebuild diagram for a 2000 Honda Odyssey?
I am trying to rebuild a transmission for a 2000 Honda odyssey? Where would I find a diagram on how to rebuild it? Thanks alot...
A: the only place you can get instructions on the rebuild for the odyssey transmission is from the service manual. the service manual can be ordered from
http://www.helminc.com
they are the online distributor for Honda service publications.
just be forewarned--the success rate in rebuilding these transmissions is very low. honda had a problem with the V-6 transmissions in 1999-2000 and had an extended warranty on them where they would replace them with a honda remanufactured transmission up to 7 years and 107,000 miles from the original service date. that warranty extension is over now as all cars are over 7 years old. honda has a contract with a rebuilder because of the success in rebuilding transmission in the dealership was forecast to be very low.
hope that helps
Q: Which is better a Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna?
We're trying to decide between a Honda Odyssey or a Toyota Sienna for our growing family(5 kids by November) and we were wondering which one people like better and why. We've tested both and are having a REALLY tough decision so anyone's personal experience with either vehicle would be greatly appreciated!
A: We test drove both and what really sold us on the Odyssey over the Sienna is that the Odyssey has stability control and full side curtain airbags standard. We bought our Odyssey on Saturday.
Q: where I can find manufacture owner manual for honda odyssey ex 2001?
I just bought honda odyssey without manual. where I can find one? Thanks
A: Most of the Auto companies have an online "owner resource center" where you can either download owners manuals for free or a nominal fee.
Here is the Honda site link:

Q: Maintenance light flashes briefly when I start my 03 Honda Odyssey. Do I need to get it checked?
I don't have the manual for my 03 Odyssey, so I don't know how the maintenance light works. Does it give scheduled maintenance reminders (like oil changes), or does it only flash when there is another problem? Mine flashes briefly when I start the engine.
This just started recently - it hasn't always done it.
A: Has it always done this? Does it flash with all the rest of the lights when you start the car? If so then its probably just part of the startup sequence. If your still worried about it take it to a shop and ask them what the deal is. The worst thing they can do is look at you funny and tell you its normal.
Q: Is a 2-ton floor jack good lifting my 96 Monte Carlo & 04 Honda Odyssey?
Is a 2-ton 'floor' jack and 2 ton jack stands good enough to lift and hold my 96 Monte Carlo & 04 Honda Odyssey? I am changing brake pads and rotors (I found a buddy to help).
For future, are jack stands safe enough to work under a car (I would only be doing oil changes)?
(My floor jack is the kind you get a sears or autozone. Not the one that comes with the car)
A: my parents for my 17th b-day got me a 2 ton floor jack from k-mart and I have usedm it lots of times on my 1979 ford f150 pickup and I feel perfectly safe using it. Just make sure you find a part of the frame to position it under
Q: How do I know if my 02 honda odyssey engine mounts need replace?
1 honda local dealer told "ya need new 5 engine mounts replace eh"
another honda dealer said " ya need a new shock absorb"
They all want to sell me a hi cost service repair but both never said the same things i am confused.
A: that van has 5 mounts, good news is that you probably only need 2 replaced maybe a third, bad new is the two that probably need replacing are the expensive ones, the front lower mount down by the bottom of the rad is a vacuum operated hydraulic mount the other one is at the rear of the engine, lower, directly opposite of the front lower one,the possible third one is the upper one by the power steering pump, the best way to know if the mount mount is broken,is when at a full stop you blip the throttle moderately and feel for a clunk ,then ave someone watch with one foot on the brake while in drive, with the other foot blip the throttle see if engine rocks excessively, the front & rear lower mounts are broken ,i lower the sub frame and replace the mounts, you must support the engine assembly, the front lower mount once removed,if you turn it over you will see oil drip out of it,the rear one will be torn, that probably your problem, while the subframe is lowered you might want to replace the swaybar insulators as you probably feel a lite clunck while going over bumps, the are easy to replace with the subframe lowered, good luck its alot of work for at home
Q: I am looking into a new minivan. How does the Town & Country comare to the Honda Odyssey?
The Odyssey gets a lot of the top ratings, but the T&C is cheaper - is the Odyssey really that much better?
A: I've owned them both (2003 Chrysler and 2005 Honda) and hands down, pick an Odyssey over any Chrysler, Ford or GM product. Go to Car and Driver and check their website. It wasn't voted the best minivan for no reason at all.
The only close competition to the Odyssey is the Toyota or the newest Hyundai Entourage. Yeah, don't laugh, Hyundai.
The Odyssey rides better, sounds better, gets better mileage, has WAY better reliability and retains its value so much better it isn't funny. I have three young children and a dog and the Honda just accommodates us all better.
Best of luck to you in your search!
Q: What is the acceleration time (0-100km/hr) for a JDM Honda Odyssey J30A v6?
I would like to compare a J30A v6 Odyssey (2001) to a JDM K24a Odyssey (2004) for acceleration. Has anyone experienced changing from the V6 to the 4-cyl car? Any comments would be appreciated.
A: Never erxperienced that before! But you can ask the Japan General Motors guys. They sell a lot of JDM engines and I am sure they can hep you. You will get their phone number on their website: http://www.japangeneralmotor.com
Q: Resetting 2001 Honda Odyssey after crash?
Recently was in an accident my 2001 Honda Odyssey van. Upon collision the van imedately turned off completely powered down. Some one mentioned to me about a kill switch for the odyssey which makes the car shut off and lock to prevent fire or further damage. If any one knows about this please reply and tell me how to restore power and fuel flow back to my van.
A: Call your Honda dealership.
Q: How is Honda Odyssey in terms of safety and economy as compared to the likes of Mercury Mariner, Toyota Sienna?
My husband and I live in NYC and we have 3 children. We are planning to buy a used vehicle and we would park it by the road since we don't have our own garage.
A: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/ratingsbyseries.aspx?id=385
There are some results from the IIHC crash tests. I've always thought them to be on par if not surpassing the Toyota, Ford and Chrysler on safety.
Q: Is the Honda Odyssey climate control screen supposed to light up at night with the headlights on?
The lcd screen that shows airflow position, temperature #, a/c on/off. This screen does not light up at night and I have no idea what the settings are at unless I turn on the dome light. Is this supposed to Illuminate similar to that of the radio lcd screen?
A: Yeah, it's supposed to be lit. You might have to go to Honda to get it fixed, the LCD screen itself might be broken. The same problem happen with my '03 Accord (the radio and temperature LCD when out) and they had to replace the whole radio (it costs $1k, but I was covered). I don't think it's as serious as my problem, but definitely give Honda a call.
P.S. That's the most annoying thing, not being able to see the screen at night.
Q: How to open a hood on Honda Odyssey from the outside?
The inside release lever does not work: it opens freely, but does not tighten up the cord. However, I cannot pull the cord much further (even with pliers) and the hood does not pop up. I am not sure whether the cord is torn (wouldn’t it move freely in this case?) or whether the latch is stuck (wouldn’t it prevent the release lever from fully opening?). I wonder whether there is a trick how to open the hood from the outside specifically for this model.
Pulling on the cord while trying to open the hood did not work.
A: With a helper, one of you push down on the hood at front center and the other do what what you were doing originally. If this doesn't work, try using a long handle screwdriver.and approach from the bottom of the vehicle, with you laying down and looking up at the lower side of the hood lock and release the lock slide with the long shaft of the screwdriver.
Q: can i use snow chain for my honda odyssey minivan? where to buy those special tire snow chain/cable?
I got different answers in the past. Someone said I cannot use snow chain at all, because it will damage the car computer system. Someone said it is okay, as long as I turn off the traction control. Someone said I need to use a special snow cable. Where I can get the safe snow tire equipment for my honda odyssey minivan? Thanks.
A: Firstly, tire chains will not damage your van unless you place them on your mini-van incorrectly or they happen to come loose and fling off. When you are looking at buying tire chains or cables make sure you note down the tire size of your vehicle (Get this off your sidewall of your tire (Just an example (225/60R16)) .
Most tire cables you can get at Wal-mart or some autoparts store. When you are looking at cables some sets come with bungee straps. Which I think are a must to ensure the chains stay tight on the tire and will not come lose and create damage to your vehicles wheel well or worse fling off and damage the side of your car or moving components.
As someone has mentioned place the chains on the drive wheels (rear -RWD cars), Front - FWD vehicles, AWD or 4x4's I normally placed on the front as you get traction on your turn wheels, but some situations you may require them on the rear.
If you are worried about chaining up in the winter time, I would suggest getting a set of Winter Tires (true M&S tires) not all-season. You have the option of getting studded winter tires which help with braking on ice and give you a little more tracking power also when you start from a stop.
Only draw back going studded winter tires is some provinces and states have dates that you have to remove the studded winters (look into provincial or state rules). Regardless of studded or studless winter tires they will out perform all-season tires during the winter months. However, it is nice to pack chains around in the winter just for those emergency cases. Hope this helps with your decision on tire chains.
