Q: "Why does my 2005 Honda Odyssey decelerate instead of coast when leaving off the accelerator?"?

A: Without looking at a clutch application chart, I'm only going by my experiance here. Many automatic transmissions use whats called a one way clutch. This clutch holds when accelerating and freewheels when off the gas. The effect of this one way clutch is to allow the vehicle to coast instead of engine braking, which is what you are feeling. Typically a one way clutch is used in the lower gears to minimise the effect of engine braking in stop & go traffic. Honda's have a very unique type of transmission. Also, be sure you have the shifter in the O/d...4th position. Many transmissions work a little differently when the shifter is in the D or 3rd position which will provide engine braking that is not present with the shifter in the O/D or 4th position. The first answer was given by someone with no clue as to what their talking about............Perhaps people only answer questions to get the points, because some of the answers are really lame.......DUH !!!!.......LOL

Q: What happens if you run out of oil in your car?
Ok so i have -99 oil in my car (2005 honda odyssey) and what happens if i run out of oil in my car?

A: IT will start making all kinds of funny noises, and might eventually catch fire. Why can't you put oil in it??? Don't drive it if you can't, it's that simple!

Q: Can I use my Minivan to take the NJ road test in Lodi?
I'm going to take a road test in the Lodi New Jersey area in a couple weeks and the vehicle I intend to use is a 2005 Honda Odyssey it's what I've been using for practice for the past 6 months, there are no park brakes in the middle but the foot brake is fairly accessible to the right side passenger but my concern is that it might not be accessible enough. If I can't, can I use a rental?

A: Haha you can use a Geo Metro hatchback. Nobody cares what vehicle you use, just so long as you can prove your ability to parallel park something and not be a typical NJ driver for about 10 critical minutes.

Q: Engine Performance Chips to Increase Horsepower?
I have a Honda Odyssey (2005) and I am looking to increase the power output from 255 HP to about 270-ish. I have heard about Computer Engine Management Chips that cost about $500 and get you that extra performance. How much extra performance would I actually be getting with the new Chip. Also, what chips would be good for this car? Thanks for the help!

A: They increase the power anywhere from 10-35HP depending on the performance chip you get and how it reads your engine.

Q: PAX tires? What is going on with them?
I recently bought a 2005 Honda Odyssey touring model. This model takes PAX tires which I have learned have a short thread life and cost a lot to replace...I like the idea of the run flat tire as I travel a lot alone with my kids...but now I am hearing they are hard to replace and that they have even been discontinued??? I can't find much information concerning these tires and what steps Honda and Michelin tires might be taking. I am planning on getting the whole system switched out when my tires wear out if these tires are going to be unavailable. Does any one out there know what is going on in this situation...I hear there is a lawsuit, but can't find much information on that either! Thanks for any info you might have.

A: Here is the latest scoop, Michelin is discontinuing the Pax product line. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/20/automobiles/20TIRES.html?em&ex=1208836800&en=97dedac16e98f154&ei=5087%0A

Q: Converting cars to biodiesel, or something like it? (french fry oil?)?
Well, i was talking to my dad today while in our car. We saw the price of gas, needless to say, at $4 for regular and $5 for diesel, we were flabbergasted. While talking to him, i gave him different scenarios like "you can convert this car to biodiesel. It would cost 1200 dollars, lose 1mpg, but gas would cost $2 and wouldnt hurt environment." He said yes to that. So, i plan to take him on his word. Im going to give the specific cars and models, but if it doesnt matter (since they're both not diesel) then just please tell me how. 2005 Pontiac Vibe 2005 Honda Odyssey ( i think touring) So we would like to know how it is possible to convert the cars to either biodiesel, or some other environmentally friendly fuel, like those cars that run on used vegetable oil. This is a part of my schools green week too, im trying to start an eco-friendly movement at my school, and if i could convert these cars to a better fuel easily, i could make it spread. I'll find the gas stations with the fuels

A: No, unfortunately only diesel cars can run on biodiesel. The only alternative fuel for gasoline cars is ethanol, but right now the only option is corn-based ethanol, which is actually probably worse for the environment than gasoline (see first link). Hopefully we'll have ethanol from switchgrass and algae soon, but for now the only option for a gasoline car is to sell it and buy a diesel (see second link) or hybrid or electric vehicle (see third link).

Q: Why is this car so cheap?
I have been in the market for a used car. I came across an individual the other day who has a 2005 Honda Odyssey for sale. It is fully loaded and only has 22,000 miles on it. From the pictures I have seen the car appears to be in pristine condition. After doing some research I found that similar vehicles sell from between $16-20,000. The gentleman who is selling the car is asking about a quarter of this price. This seems almost too good to be true. The seller is in the military and stationed over seas-he will be shipping the vehicle to me for free, and I have five days to drive the car after I receive it. If I find something wrong, or that it is not as advertised, I can return the car. Ebay will be holding the money until the transaction is complete, so he will not get the money until I authorize it. Can anyone speculate as to why the car is being sold so far below its value?

A: It is cheap because THERE IS NO CAR. This is a well used SPAM tactic. Do not send any money or maintain contact. They are looking to rip you off. ANY time a seller offers "free shipping" it is a scam. Any time they say "Ebay will hold the funds" it is a scam. There is no car, the "seller" is not in the military. It IS too good to be true. To those here who "Think it MAY be a scam".......get a clue.

Q: Certified Used Toyota Warranty or Certified Used Honda Warranty ?
I am looking to buy a late model ( 2005-2007 ) Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey . Is it true that the Toyota Certified Warranty is for 3 months or 3,000 miles from date of purchase and the Honda Certified Warranty is for 12 months or 12,000 miles from the date of purchase ? What do these Toyota Certified Warranties & Honda Certified Warranties cover ? Are they similar ? --- If so, How are they similar ? Are they different ? ---- If so, How are they different ? Which is a better warranty ( Toyota Certified or Honda Certified ) ? I don't want a brand new van because I am having it specially modified for wheelchair transportation but I would like to get either a Good Toyota Sienna Certified Van or a Good Honda Odyssey Certified Van but don't know which has a better Certified Warranty ?

A: Check out www.thetruthaboutcars.com first. The "certified" vehicles sell for $500 to $2,000 more because used-car buyers want certainty more than anything. It turns out that most dealerships do not do a whole lot of inspecting on these vehicles. You would get just as good a deal on any "uncertified" vehicle on the lot. The reason is that these Toyota and Honda cars are so well-made. Until the last 2 years when Toyota has slipped down near General Motors in reliability. Like all warranties, both are full of weasel clauses. That is why you are really depending on the dealership being a great place to do business. You can check with the local Better Business Bureau..

Q: Does anyone know when Toyota is doing the major redesign of the Sienna?
The last major model redesign was in 2004. Honda Odyssey did its redesigns in 2001 and 2005 but I don't know if Toyota is also on a four year cycle.

A: Nope, it doesn't seem like Toyota is planning one anytime soon.

Q: Any ideas on what sort of car out their is economical family size?
I'm currently running a Ford Territory and with the fuel prices it's getting really painful. God i wish they could run on air lol. I'm thinking about a Honda Odyssey i've heard their more economical and good for the size of my family. My territory hasn't even done 60,000 k's yet and we've had it since 2004/2005. By next year were going to be a family of five.

A: Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna both have overall 20 MPG which is the best gas milage among Mini Vans, they are both very econimical and drive forever. also consider Toyota Highlander hybrid with an additional third row seat. this SUV has overal 27 MPG however is more expensive and the third row seat is very tight. the best choice is either Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna

Q: Which Car?
I am looking to buy a mini-van. At the moment i have a Chrysler 2005 town and country and it sucks bad. Now i am about to change my car in march and wanted to know which mini-van is better Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey? Thanks

A: The Odyssey is the better van , but expensive to fix.
