Q: Can I install 2006 Odyssey GPS in an older Odyssey?
The new 2006 Honda Odyssey has a GPS system built in with a RES. I have a 2004 Honda Odyssey with RES but on GPS. I am wondering if I can install one from the newer model.
A: Contact the dealer. If it fits in the dash, probably. You need to find out if the GPS system has a satellite up-link, or if it uses a vehicle speed sensor. Or possibly both. Talk to the head mechanic on this one. For a few bucks he will probably copy the tech manual pages for you.

Q: Auction only giving me Partial VIN 4 Honda Odyssey EXL 2006 RES Where can I find the complete on the internet?
I am considering buying a Honda Odyssey EXL 2006 RES on an auction site where they only give you a partial VIN for "security" purposes. Of course I can't discover why its salvaged without that VIN. I was thinking there must be some kind of website where I could get possible matches searching with the partial VIN I have. I know its a salvage registered in OR with about 35,889 miles on it. Its located in Pocatello, ID right now, but I don't have a license plate state or #. This is the partial for it: 5FNRL38736B******
Can anyone tell me where to search, or any possible matches on it?
A: You wont be able to do what you are asking and if they wont give you the complete VIN then you should not do business with them, there is no telling what else they are hiding........
Q: Honda Odyssey steering wheel?
I left my 2006 Honda Odyssey EX minivan in the airport parking lot for a week, and when I returned the steering wheel was turned completely upside-down and was locked in that position. The wheels, however, are completely straight, just as they were when I parked the car. The battery is fine, but the steering wheel will not move from the upside-down position, and the key goes into the ignition, but will not turn. Help?
A: turn the wheel even though its locked one way or the other while turning the ignition swtich
the steering wheel lock has a load on it and turning the wheel that slight bit will unload it and let the key fully turn
Q: Honda Odyssey Help.?
Why did my 2006 Honda Odyssey lose traction control on snow cover trun. It went straghit into the snowbank and i was going 5mph or less. I turned the wheels and pumped the barkes and it went staright in to the snow bank. I dont know if the tires are to blame or going 5mph or less was to fast. Any answers to this will help.
I was putting the brakes on gently. It also does it at 40mph+ it wants to go any way but straight. Cant use chanis where iam. It's aganist the law.
A: stay off the brakes especially while turning. If you have to brake make it gentle and smoothe.

Q: What is the best mini-van to convert to a wheelchair van ?
I became disabled following an operation 2 years ago & have very limited ambulation with a walker. I also have a severely handicapped adult step-son who is confined to a wheelchair and is completely non-ambulatory.
I am looking to purchase a good used mini-van to install a wheelchair lift into.
My wife has a friend whose husband has been disabled for many years & he swears that the only van that he is able to scoot off his scooter into is a Toyota Sienna ?
Consumer Reports apparently rates the 2005 Toyota Sienna very highly but Edmunds rates the 2001-2006 Honda Odyssey very highly ?
I have found 2004-2005 models of the above vans with 25,000-35,000 miles on them.
Which van is the best to convert to a wheelchair van ?
Pros & Cons of each van ?
Are there better mini-vans to convert to a wheelchair van ?
A: many people use Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country--
you need to have a lowered floor so there is head clearance when you go up the ramp---
heres a coupe good resources

a full size van is an alternative
the PT cruiser was even made accessible
many deale5rs now have converted vans in stock
the front seat can swivel--mechanically turn around to transfer from teh wheelchair
Q: Honda Odyssey 07 makes a noise whine/humming like noise after freeway driving - anyone else experienced this?
After driving my HO 2007 on the freeway I notice a constant hum/whine/vibration-like noise coming from the front-end. My husband (a mech engineer in the automotive industry) says it is the power steering pump. To date we are unable to duplicate this for the dealer, but will try again. Have any other Honda Odyssey 2007 owners experienced this problem? There was a TSB for the 2006 HO power steering pump, but not one for the 2007.
A: the TSB applies to all 2005-2007 Odysseys. Here's the gist of what it says
SYMPTOM
The power steering pump whines, buzzes, or hums
after driving for 30 minutes in temperatures of 35 to
40 degrees F (2 to 5 degrees C).
PROBABLE CAUSE
The power steering pump reservoir is defective.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Flush the power steering system with clean power
steering fluid, then replace the power steering
reservoir.
PARTS INFORMATION
Power Steering Reservoir:
P/N 53701-SHJ-A01C1, H/C 9023672
sounds like that is your problem. in the US the car is under warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles. chances are you are within warranty and the repair will be done at no charge.
looks like the reason your dealer can't duplicate the problem is time and temperature. they don't drive the car for 30 minutes because they have to pay someone to do that and Honda doesn't reimburse them for that tiem so they don't do the road test (loss of productive time). also, if the temperature is not in the range of 35-40F when they did do a road test then chances are the condition won't happen for them.
take it to the dealer and ask them to perform the repairs per the TSB
hope that helps
Q: Will a 225 60 R16 tire fit on a rim that had a 235 65 R16 103T tire?
Will a 225 60 R16 tire fit on a rim that had a 235 65 R16 103T tire?
This is for a 2006 Honda Odyssey (EX?)
A: Sure. The tires will fit on the wheels just fine. You just can't use those tires on the Odyssey.
The specified P235/65R16 103T tire has an overall rolling diameter of 28.1 inches compared to just 26.7 inches for the P225/60R16 97S sized tires. That will obviously have an adverse impact on speedometer and odometer accuracy, gearing and fuel economy. The smaller tire also has a smaller contact patch which means less traction, longer stopping distances, etc. Worst of all though is the load carrying capacity. The tire size your van was engineered for at the recommended 35 psi inflation pressure has a load carrying capacity of 1,819 pounds. The smaller P225/60R16 97S sized tire can only carry a load of 1,609 pounds at that pressure - equivilant to having your tires under-inflated by 9 psi!!!!
So no, I would not recommend putting them on, nor are you likely to find a tire store that would be willing to do it.
Q: Which minivan is better : Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey.?
I am talking about 2006 or 2007 model.
A: Honda has been the best minivan ever since it debuted, and '07 changes nothing. Anyone whos name is ToyTech (as in toyota), or works for toyota has to be more than biased. Honda has dominated, and will continue to dominate as long as they make the odyssey. The '08 Chrysler might compete, but will fall short of the Honda. Toyota is also the most recalled company of '06, with Ford in second. Any of Toyotas new designs has fallen way short of that "legendary" reliability. While Toyota is falling, GM has kicked it up a notch and is producing some of the best vehicles, especially from the Saturn lineup.
Q: Honda odyssey DVD player stuck on loading, won't play?
I recently bought a used odyssey with DVD. I tried inserting a DVD and it wont go in. The display says DVD loading and the indicate light says disk in is lit. I'm assuming there's a DVD stuck in there or something is jammed. My search online has been unsuccessful. This is the original DVD player in the 2006 touring edition. Does anyone have a fix? Its still under warranty and the chatter online sounds like I'm going to need to have it replaced. Any advice is welcomed.
A: Bring it to your Honda Dealer so they can check it out. It should still be under warranty, assuming you bought it with the minimum 3yr./36,000 mi. If you bought it used off a Honda lot, go back to them, tell them that it's been like this since you bought it, and say you want it fixed or replaced free of charge. Good luck, hopefully you get this resolved soon.
Q: Buying good mini-vans to be fitted with......... ?
To make a longer story a little shorter; I had an operation two years ago which left me primarilly confined to a wheelchair. I am learning to walk some again with a walker & I also have a " special " step-son who is completely non-ambulatory and completely confined to a wheelchair.
As such; I am looking to purchase a good used mini-van which will be fitted with a wheelchair lift ?
My wife has a friend whose husband has been confined primarilly to a wheelchair for many years & he maintains that he has found that the only mini-van that is roomy enough for him to get in and out of is the Toyota Sienna ?
I observed that various sources ( such as Consumer Reports ) lists the 2005 Toyota Sienna as one of the best used mini-vans however I have also observed that Edmunds lists 2001- 2006 Honda Odyssey as the best used mini-vans ?
I have found Dealers in my area with 2004 or 2005 models of Toyota Sienna and/ or Honday Odyssey with between 22,000 to 36,000 miles on them.
Having said that.......which is the better Mini-van ( Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey ) to buy used to modify for my wheelchair needs ?
Are there better used mini-vans for my purpose ?
What are the pros & cons of used Toyota Sienna vs. Honda Odyssey ?
I saw a review on a 2005 Toyota Sienna where the owner said the van developed major problems from 36,000 on so....how important is mileage on either of these used mini-vans ?
A: Honda Odyssey & Toyota Sienna are the best mini vans.
