Q: used 2005 Honda Pilot?
How much should a used 2005 Honda Pilot cost? Let's say with like 120,000 miles on it. I know what a dealership would charge but what is the worth of a car with those specifications?
A: Well, what it is actually worth and what a dealership sells it for is never correct. They dealerships have a tendency to overcharge... check http://www.kbb.com/
Q: How to play iPods in my 2005 honda pilot?
I have a 2005 honda pilot and i want to play songs from my ipod in the car. Getting a new stereo system was my first idea but i found out (as other owners may know) you cant replace the factory radio!!!! thats rediculous, i had to return a 400 dollar in dash radio. I got one of those FM radio ipod converters but i cant find any good channels, the sound is never clear. Ive heard there is an AUX jack behind the stereo but I dont know how to get back there, there is an AUX BUTTON on the from panel, so why the hell wouldnt they put an AUX jack right next to it... stupid designers. How can I play my ipod?!
more info: no tape player, cant replace radio, not willing to replace navigation system.
A: you can go to Crutchfield.com and search for ipod adaptors and get the kit to wire the adaptor using the aux port on the back of the radio. honda made an accessory adaptor for that model back in 2005 but took it off the market because it interfered with the Rear Entertainment System on the vehicles that also had that option. the honda accessory is no longer available.
the reason they didin't have the Ipod adaptors in 2005 was the vehicle was designed in 2003 and that was the early stage of in-car Ipod jacks and not all manufacturers had adopted that technology. later pilots have the ipod jacks but there is no retro-fit.
if you need instructions on how to take the unit out you can email me and I can get them for you. however, you're probably better off taking the vehicle to a stereo shop and buying the adaptor from them and have them install it. that way if anything breaks it will be their responsibility to fix it.
hope that helps
Q: I am considering purchasing a 2005 Honda Pilot with 50000 km on it. Any advice with regard to this vehicle?
A: Excellent choice and will serve you well.
Mileage concerns do not always apply with products made by Honda and the Pilot is no exception.
Make sure it has had regular service, call Honda to see if it has any outstanding recalls and if possible verify that it has not been in a very bad collision.
Great engine, well built and a great reputation will make for many years of hassle free driving. Read your manual too.
I'm on my 3rd Civic, great vehicles all around.
Q: 2005 Honda Pilot Gascap warning light doesnt go off...help?
My Pilot has a dashboard warning light warning the gas cap needs to be checked. I did look at it, and its clean in and out, and I turned it at least 3 clicks, but the warning doesnt stop. help?
A: It will usually take two to three days for the light to go off. the system that detected the failure needs to detect that it has been repaired by tightening the gas cap.
that light means taht there is a leak in the evaporative emissions system; a loose gas cap is the most frequent cause but not the only one. the other causes can be in the hoses and plumbing to the emissions cannister or in the lines from the fuel tank to the cannister. if the light doesn't go off after 3 days of tightening the cap three clicks then make an appointment to get it checked at a Honda dealer. the emissions system is covered for 3 years or 50000 miles so you may still be under warranty
hope that helps
Q: my 2005 honda pilot radio is not coming on when i try and turn it on it says err1?
A: Maybe its a fuse or the antena
Q: When should timing belt be changed on 2005 Honda Pilot?
A: The timing belt should be changed at around 105,000 miles. It's in the owner's manual and should be in your service history guide.
Q: 2005 Honda Pilot What Tires ?
I have an '05 Honda Pilot and it came with goodyear integrities on it and they SUCK! Im thinking about spending the money and putting michelin ltx m/s on it. I want to get them a little bigger than what's on there now. Does anyone have any experience with this. If so let me know.
Ok apparently first guy to answer doesnt know that a pilot is an SUV The goodyear integrity is a car tire. and yes it did come with that from the factory. i dont want that back on there. i want something with a decent tread.
A: Do you want them taller or wider? I think it wold be fine to go slightly bigger, but I wouldn't go wider. I heard the Michelin LTX M/S are good tires, and can last a long time. I was just at my tire shop, talking about what tires would be good in a few years for my '09 Acura MDX sport, and he suggested General Grabbers... he said Michelin's are overrated. What ever you get, just shop around for the best deal.
Q: what is the code to unlock radio on honda pilot 2005?
A: 1. Look in glove box for small sticker with numbers, should be 5 digits with numbers no greater then 6.
2. Pull out the ashtray and see if the sticker is on the back of there.
3. Pull radio from dash and write down radio serial number and call local dealer with that number and they will be able to get the code for you.
4. If you happen to have all the books from the dealer look in the 'HONDA SERVICE HISTORY' book, not the owners manual. It should be on the first page in the AUDIO CODE box.
Someone put on here that if you hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons and then turn on the radio it will read out the serial number for the radio. This will keep you from pulling the radio from dash. I haven't tried it I keep forgetting when I go to work. I just tried on my 07 Element and it didn't work. It just went into diagnostic mode. I'll try on an older model and report back.
Q: 2005 Honda Pilot Battery Problem?
For the past few months, we've noticed that our pilot was not starting as quickly as usual. The other day, my wife noticed that she noticed an interior light on when getting into the car, and the car would not start (fast clicking sounds but no engine turnover). We jumped the car with no problem and drove for a long period of time. The car was in the driveway for 2 days and would not start again when we tried. Now the shifter is locked in park (I know how to release this). I also notice that when I open the door to get out, there is a faint clicking sound and I can see faint flickering on all interior lights. Does this sound like a dead battery? Alternator problem or some type of eletrical problem?
A: NEIHTER,....YOUR PROBLEM IS IN THE INTERIOR ELECTRICAL LIGHT SYSTEM....YOU EITHER HAVE THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT ON, AT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, OR YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR TAILGATE DOOR SHUT ALL THE WAY. OPEN THE TAILGATE DOOR, AND LOOK TO SEE THAT THERE NOTHING CAUGHT,OR LAYING OVER THE LOCK LATCH, WHERE THE DOOR CLOSES. THAT LOCK LATCH IS THE GROUND, FOR THE LIGHT TO GO ON, AND OFF. THAT IS YOUR WHOLE PROBLEM, ITS IN THE DOMELIGHT CIRCUIT. CHECK ALL THE DOORS, THE DOMELIGHT SWITCH, AND THE TAILGATE DOOR. CHARGE THE BATTERY, IT DOES NOT HAVE TO REPLACED, AND DRIVE IT. WHEN YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF, LOOK AT ALL THE INSIDE LIGHTS. IF IS DAYLIGHT OUT PUT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE WHERE IT IS DARK AND THE BAD DOOR LIGHT SWITCH WILL BE MUCH EASIER OT SEE, AND REPAIR.
TAKE TWO BEERS AND GIVE IT HELL.
Q: I have a 2005 Honda Pilot with approx 31k miles on it (wont Start)?
I never had any problems with this truck. Sunday I went to the mall park my truck went back 45 min later to restart the truck and when I turn the key I got a fast clicky sound. the truck would not start so I got a jump the truck started fine, I came home last night I went to start the truck and the same thing happen a fast clicky sound.
I don't think it's the battery cause everything else is working(radio, lights and power windows) the truck also has almost a full tank of gas. any one please a diagnosis or possible solutions. Thank you
A: Often a battery post will break inside the battery and it has enough power to turn on the lights and work everything electrical, but not enough current can get across the broken post to crank the engine over.
Your battery is your problem.
Take your car back to where you bought the battery and have them test it. They'll tell you the load test failed.
I use Interstate Battery because you never need a receipt to leverage their warranty.
Always buy the battery with the maximum amount of amperage that will fit in your car. It's cheaper in the long run and will make your starter last forever (because it doesn't need to work as long to start your car)

Q: Where is the IAT sensor located on a 2005 Honda Pilot?
A: the IAT is screwed into the side of the throttle body. Follow the black intake air bellows back to the throttle body and you'll see a connector for the sensor on the side of the throttle body. The sensor looks the same as a coolant temperature sensor and acts in much the same way. Remove the connector and unscrew the sensor. You'll need to replace the gasket with the sensor.
I don't know how many miles you have on your Pilot, but the IAT is covered by a 3 year 50,000 mile emissions warranty. The truck should still be in that warranty on time as long as the mileage is under 50k take it to a Honda dealer.
hope that helps
Q: Problem with Honda Pilot 2005?
My SRS (airbag) light is on- and the back windshield wiper stopped working. I changed the fuse and as soon as I turned on the rear wiper- the fuse popped again. So I brought a bigger fuse (it was initially 7.5 and I have a 10 on there now.) When I took it to Honda- they said that the wiper engine had a short and would cost me $350 to fix. However they are not aware that if I use a larger fuse- the wipers still work. They told be that the engine is shot I Don’t believe them because if I use a larger fuse then recommended- the wipers do work. The problem is that the SRS light does not turn off. (Honda said as long as the fuse doesn’t blow- the airbags should be fine.)
So can I install a larger fuse-(perhaps a 12 or 15) and will this still fire off the airbags incase of an accident?
A: What you are doing gets things working again, but its just not safe. If the wiper motor or wiring has a short in it, it creates heat, and the wires leading to the wiper motor are not set up to handle the amperage that the higer rated fuses are sending trough them. Its only going to get worse, and if you put in a larger fuse, it will get hotter. Eventually you will have a fire. You need to find out what is causing the issue and get it resolved.
I am not sure that the SRS(airbag) system will work with the light on either.
Id take it to another shop if you cant afford the repair work at the honda dealership.
Good luck.
Q: Honda Pilot 2005 battery problems?
When I got in my car this morning to try to start it, it failed. I went and bought a new battery and replaced it. Once I replaced the battery, the lights inside the car and the alarm turned on. Once I tried starting the car I heard a click and everything shut off, as if the car "locked" itself. Someone suggested that the computer needs to be reset. Can anyone confirm this? What do you think could be done to fix this?
A: sounds like you have to reset the security system. if its a honda system call a dealer for instructions or look in your owners manual for help.
Q: I have a Honda Pilot 2005 and it requires 91 Octane gas. anybody out there who uses regular gas on this model?
A: Some one will say they use regular and will say it runs fine, but it will be seriously de-tuned on lower octane gas. That being said, you could do it, but performance will be down, and fuel mileage will also be down.
Stick with th 91octane but don't worry about wrecking your motor if you can't get 91 or better in an emergency.
Q: need help on my honda pilot 2005 ex ?
i have the serial number and VIN but i need the code to unlock my radio any help Will be appreciated
A: 1. Look in or on the side of glove box for small sticker with numbers, should be 5 digits with numbers no greater then 6.
2. Pull out the ashtray and see if the sticker is on the back of there.(older models that have them)
3. Pull radio from dash and write down radio serial number and call local dealer with that number and they will be able to get the code for you. If you turn off radio and hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons then turn radio on it will give you the serial number. They will ask verifying questions.
4. If you happen to have all the books from the dealer look in the 'HONDA SERVICE HISTORY' book, NOT the owners manual. It should be on the first page in the AUDIO CODE box.
You can go to this site https://radio-navicode.honda.com/ but you will have to prove you own the car. Honda knows if the dealer that you bought it from reported it to them.
